A RESOLUTION CONDEMNING SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND ABUSE

WITHIN THE PARTY

WHEREAS sexual harassment is a form of sexual violence and, as such, a violation of fundamental human rights;

AND WHEREAS sexual harassment disproportionately affects women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender
non-binary people, and half of all women will experience workplace sexual harassment in their lifetimes;

AND WHEREAS sexual harassment and abuse that occurs in the workplace is sex-based discrimination that endangers
workers physically, psychologically, and financially;

AND WHEREAS tolerance for sexual harassment and abuse exists in all types of institutions and at all levels;

AND WHEREAS the Party stands for the rights of all people to have equitable access to and participation in public life,
including in work, education, and political activity;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Travis County Democratic Party unequivocally and firmly condemns
sexual harassment and abuse within its ranks;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, in the interest of ensuring fair, equitable, and fully democratic
participation in its activities, the Party shall support through any feasible and legal means its employees, volunteers, and
affiliates who have experienced harassment on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Party shall not tolerate retaliation, in any form, express or implied,
against any person who identifies a harasser or seeks assistance in connection with harassment;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Party shall investigate promptly and thoroughly any known or
suspected sexual harassment and, with respect for the safety and autonomy of those experiencing harassment or abuse,
take firm disciplinary and protective action against the harasser.
