In WDM series diesel locomotive, the following safety
fittings / safety items are fitted, when the locomotive is
out from the shed to work on line, before that these
safety fittings / safety items to be checked completely
for their fitment and functions. Safety fittings / safety
items are as under.

IN UNDER TRUCK

1. Ensure the height of the rail guard fitted on the

cattle guard to be 4 ½”.
2. Ensure cattle guard and cattle guard supports to
be properly fitted and both should be proper
tightened.
3. Ensure the bar pin of CBC couplers are correctly
fitted.
4. Ensure the coupler retaining plates properly
tightened.
5. Ensure the brackets of pull rod should be
properly fitted.
6. Ensure the transition screw coupling is properly
fitted and in working condition.
7. Ensure that the tie bar should be straight and
properly fitted.
8. Ensure the side buffers properly fitted and
tightened with bolts.
9. Ensure the brackets of equalizing beam are
properly tightened and seal.
10. Ensure the horn stay plate bolts are properly
tightened.
11. Ensure the axle box front and back cover bolts
are properly tightened.
12. Ensure the brake shoe and brake hanger’s bolts
are properly tightened.
13. Ensure the proper movement of brakes piston.
14. Ensure the gear case bolts are properly tight with
‘C’ clamp and sealed.
15. Ensure the suspension bearing caps are
tightened and sealed.
16. Ensure the all wick pads are tightened and
properly sealed.
17. Ensure the suspension bearings drain plugs are
properly fitted, tightened and sealed.
18. Ensure sand gear pipes & brackets for properly
fitted.
 19. Check the lubricants in centre pivots and side
load pads.
20. Ensure the holding straps of main reservoir are
properly fitted.

IN UPPER DECK

21. Check the proper working of A-9, SA-9, dynamic

brake and D-1 emergency brakes.
22. Check the working of all brake cylinders.
23. Check proper working of hand brake.
24. Check the working of speedometer.
25. Check the loco Horn sound is proper.
26. Check the working of both side head lights.
27. Check the working of both side marker lights.
28. Check the working of both side flasher lights.
29. Check all wipers in working.
30. Ensure the availability of fire extinguisher and
check expiry date, if expired, replace it.
