Dual-Steps Amalgamation

Mercury Analyzer
for Gaseous Matrices

Mercury/WA-5A/5F

Mercury is a naturally occurring element which can be found in the environment mainly in the form of cinnabar ore (HgS).
Mercury is also found in fossil fuels in significant amounts, and even in minerals and rocks, although in trace amounts.
Although mercury is naturally occurring, two thirds or more of the mercury present in the atmosphere now comes from
man-made products and energy production sources. Mercury can be released into the atmosphere through a variety of means
such as evaporation / vaporization from water and soil, but primarily through coal-fired boiler utilities and waste (medical &
municipal) combustor emissions. Mercury gets into the soil through the natural breakdown of mercury containing rocks,
disposal of mercury in landfills, and atmospheric depositions. It enters the water table through runoff, atmospheric depositions
and by people pouring mercury containing products down drains. There are currently movements afoot to control mercury on a
global scale near the future, for example the UNEP Mercury Program of the United Nation Environment Program, That is
exactly why it needs to be measured, monitored, and controlled.

FEATURE
1. Dual-Steps Amalgamation method offers precise Mercury measurements specified in most official
  test methods.
1st gold-amalgamation collector tube functions as a sampling tube, is heated to release all absorbed components. The 2nd
gold-amalgamation collector tube re-concentrates and purifies the elemental Mercury while eliminates the other gas interfering
components. It is heated to release the Mercury for quantification under UV wavelength of 253.7nm in the Atomic Absorption
Detector.
2. Ultra high sensitivity & Extended Linear Range
Choice of Atomic Absorption (WA-5A) or Atomic Fluorescence (WA-5F) detector. WA-5A (Atomic Absorption) features the
innovative dual-cell design which offers an extended linear effective measuring range. WA-5F (Atomic Fluorescence) offer
ultra-high sensitivity to sub-pico-gram measurements.
Working range: WA-5A / 0.001 ~ 1,000ng (linear); WA-5F / 0.1pg ~ 1,000ng

3. Selective option attachment

WA-5 is available for direct sampling from Tedlar Bag & Compressed Gas Cylinder (via Heated Vaporizer) for LNG/LPG with
automatic sampling volumes control. Other optional attachment includes Automated 30-positions Tube Changer (Model TC-WA)
for unmanned tube desorption operation. With S-MA 20mL Impinger setup, WA-4 can function as a Reduction Vaporization for
water and aqueous Mercury analysis.
