The Service Adapt IT Training & Development is geared to assist businesses, educational
institutions, government departments, or any sub-division of such organizations, with
their strategic planning processes, both in a facilitating role and/or in a consultative
capacity.
Our methodology is needs-focused and includes:
 Client briefing to establish methodology and objectives of the session
 Detailed scope definition
 Formal proposal
 Facilitation of the strategic planning team
 Comprehensive report on outcomes
Our facilitator fulfills the role of an independent consultant of the strategic planning
team.
The Model We follow a universal accepted model of the strategic planning process, but we proud
ourselves that we can make adjustments to this model to meet the specific needs of
our clients.
The model could include:
 Formulate / revise / align the vision, mission and value statements of the
organization
 Conduct an internal and external analysis (SWOT) of the current positioning of
the organization
 Define Critical Success Factors (CSF) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for
the organization or the team
 Formulate medium and long term objectives, i.e. where the organization wants to
be at a certain point in future
 Establish which strategy/s need to be deployed to best reach the set of defined
objectives
 Translate strategies into detailed operational action plans or projects
 Monitoring implementation and progress
Deliverables Deliverables are to be agreed with the client, but in general we offer the following
services:
Organizing an off-site venue for the strategic planning workshop, organizing
transport, accommodation, meals and other related facilities
Based on the brief from the client propose and agree the methodology to be
followed
Formulated vision, mission and value statement with buy-in from all role players
Documented strategic plan with medium and longer term objectives and
strategies to be deployed
Identify strategic and operational risks
Facilitating the internal process to formulate operational action plans in
cooperation with line management
Monitoring the implementation of the action plans, progress meetings and
feedback to the executive sponsor
Control mechanisms to evaluate the ‘planned’ versus the ‘actual’ (including
feedback reports to the executive sponsor

The Facilitator The strategic planning facilitation service is to be performed and coordinated by the
manager of Adapt IT Training & Development, Mr. Peet du Plessis.
Peet obtained a B.Com Accounting degree at the University of Johannesburg (former
RAU)) and a Higher National Diploma (Post graduate) in Management Practice at the
University of Johannesburg (former TWR). His career of 35+ years includes 4 years
in audit practice, and 18 years in the higher education sector in executive and senior
academic positions, followed by 17 years with Adapt IT in management and project
management. He has been responsible for organizing and facilitating umpteenth
national and international workshops and conferences on best practice for the
administration of higher education institutions. He has been a contracted part-time
lecturer at various private higher education institutions for the last 17 years, lecturing
in Corporate Strategy and Financial Accounting and Management. He was involved
with and facilitated various strategic planning sessions with companies and
educational institutions over the years.
Venue Adapt IT T & D offers a modern Adapt IT SMART Centre in Monument Park, Pretoria
where strategic planning workshops can be conducted.
Refreshment breaks and a light lunch are served daily.
The workshop can also be conducted at an off-site venue according to the client’s
needs.
Facilitation fee Facilitation and consultation fees will be determined in accordance with the agreed
scope of work.
For interventions outside the Gauteng province, travelling and subsistence fees will
be charged.
