6. TECHNO-COMMERCIAL ANALYSIS
Refer Annexure I for Technical comparision between Air cooled chillers, water cooled
chiller,Mini Chiller and VRF system.
Refer Annexure II for commercial analysis comparision between Air cooled chillers,
water cooled chiller and VRF system.
• From annexure I & II, Aircooled & water cooled system are almost atpar with each
other.
• Water cooled system requires continnous makeup of soft water. Additional WTP is
required for softening of water. This will incur additional capital cost.
• Water cooled system requires a closed chiller plant room which will end up in
occupying space in basement or additional room to be built on terrace. This will
result additional capital cost.
• Variable speed Aircooled chillers are very effecient at part load condition compare to
water cooled chillers.
8. SUMMARY OF AIR-CONDITIONING
The peak load is estimated at 434.0 TR Cooling Load Calculation (enclosed). For detail
refer Basis of Design.
CHILLER SELECTION:
Variable Air Cooled Screw Chillers : 3 Nos. - 170 TR (2W + 1S) Chilled
We are proposing mechanical ventilation for basement car parking through IDW
Centrifugal Fan (Fire rated for 2 Hours at 250 Deg C). We have designed Exhaust air
up to 15 air changes per hour during normal mode & Pollution mode & 30 ACPH during
fire mode as per the NBC.Basement fresh air will be drawn through the entry/exit
ramps. However fresh air fans are designed for 30 ACPH. We have considered Jet Fans
for Duct less and Efficient Ventilation of Basement. The location of Jet fans is decided
using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.CFD analysis will be carried out by
independent agency.
Toilet Exhaust
Toilet ventilation of a minimum 6-15 air changes per hour shall be exhausted through
centralised duct.
Fresh Air with Heat Recovery Wheel
The filtered fresh air from the atmosphere shall be supplied to the Air handling Units at
the each floor through heat recovery wheel located at terrace.Energy from the exhaust
air will be recovered through the heat recovery wheel. Volume control damper shall be
provided to regulate the fresh air intake.
Smoke extraction system for lift lobby shall be designed for min 12 ACPH. In case of
smoke detection, Motorized smoke damper of Lift lobby where fire had occurred shall
open & Smoke exhaust Fans located at service floor shall start automatically up on
receipt of signal from fire alarm panel. Simultaneously Motorized damper of one or two
floors above and below the fire affected floor will get open & lift lobby pressurization fan
located at service floor shall start automatically up on receipt of signal from fire alarm
panel
In the event of fire, result of these actions would be to effectively pressurize areas
above and below the fire floor as well as stairwells and elevator shafts and remove as
many products of combustion from the building as possible without contamination of
areas adjacent to fire.
For low side work the system will comprise of Air Handling Units with backward curve
blowers & motors, Ducting, Duct insulation, Diffusers.
The office area shall cooled by independent air handling units located in the AHU Rooms
in the respective floor.
The Air Handling Units shall be provided with VSD (VFD) controls. Based on the
requirement more than one AHU may be used for proper air conditioning of the offices
area. The size & number of AHUs will be decided during detailed engineering.
Each AHU shall be provided with 2 way motorized chilled water valve controlled by a
modulating thermostat. The AHU and all equipment shall be connected to direct digital
controllers (DDCs) which have precise control on the equipment operation.
Ducting
Air will be distributed to areas through insulated ducting fitted with outlet grilles and
diffusers..
Chilled water will be supplied from the chiller to the AHUs cooling coils through insulated
chilled water piping. The chilled water is re-circulated by chilled water pumps
The piping will eventually run through the shafts near the AHU rooms. In each AHU
room, a chilled water tapping will be provided for the air handling unit.
Variable speed Air cooled screw chillers are available from various manufacturers. The
air cooled screw chiller comprises of screw compressor with evaporator and air cooled
condensers, refrigerant R134a, Motor with VFD & VFD panel. The evaporator cools the
water from 12.22° C to 6.66° C by evaporation of refrigerant in the evaporator. From the
evaporator the suction gas is piped to the screw compressor where it is compressed to a
higher pressure to enable condensation in the condenser. The compressed hot gas is
then piped to the condenser. The condenser comprises of a copper coil with aluminium
fins & fans. The atmospheric air is blown over the condenser coils by the fans to
condensate the hot gas in to hot liquid. The liquid refrigerant is piped to the evaporator
where an expansion device is provided for lowering the pressure and temperature of the
liquid to enable evaporation. The air cooled screw chillers are provided with complete
piping, controls and cable terminating in to a control panel with a starter to provide a
standalone system.
