GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT (GAD)

SEMINAR-WORKSHOP /TEAM BUILDING
TO: ALL TEACHERS

1. The Gender and Development (GAD) Seminar-workshop /Team Building shall be at

Bataan on May 21-23, 2018.

2. The objectives of the Gender and Development (GAD) Seminar-workshop /Team

Building are:

a. To discuss the importance of Gender and Development.

b. To differentiate sex and gender.
c. To identify gender roles in the family, household and society.
d. To understand the situation of men and women in the community.
e. To discuss the role of the government in responding to gender needs and the salient
features of RA 7192/RA 9262
f. To formulate School Child Protection and Anti-Bullying Policy.

3. Participants of the Gender and Development (GAD) Seminar-workshop /Team

Building are the teaching and non-teaching staff of the junior and senior high school
teachers.

4. Expenses on transportation, meals and materials to be used is sourced from the school
MOOE, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

6. Wide dissemination of this memorandum is desired.

Rationale

Pursuant to Republic Act No.9710, Section 36 of Chapter VI provides that all

departments including different agencies, offices and other government
instrumentalities shall adopt gender mainstreaming as a strategy to promote
women’s human rights and eliminate gender discrimination in the systems, policies,
thrusts and programs.

In line with this mandate, the General Appropriations Act of 2013, Republic
Act No. 10352 requires all agencies including the Department of Education to
formulate a Gender and Development (GAD) Plan and Budget designed to address
gender issues and implement applicable provisions under Republic Act. No. 9701
that GAD Plan and Budget shall be integrated in the regular activities utilizing the
five percent (5%)budget of agency.

Further, it specifically aims to:

 Recognize the role of women in nation building and ensure

fundamental equality of women and their children;

 Raise awareness in recognizing the role and contribution of women in

the family and society.

In order the San Antonino National High School can respond to the above
mandate, it is necessary its faculty and staff become fully aware of gender concerns
affecting the growth and development of every learner.
