INFORMAL EVALUATION OF JOB-RELATED FACTORS

I. Directions: Answer completely and honestly. Cite examples if necessary. Be

specific in your descriptions.

1. List the areas of business or industry in which you would consider working; for
example health, retail and insurance, etc.

To add more challenge at work, Mr. Legeken considers working in the

mining industry because of the high salary and a different level of job. Also,
he chose this area because he is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemical
Engineering and he thinks that he can use his knowledge well in this industry.
But since working there is a risky task, he added that a cautious and prepared
mind is very much needed to prevent accidents.

2. List the most important qualification you have to offer an employer; for
example skills, attitude and personality.

He possesses open-mindedness at work especially in bringing out the

quality service that he can offer. As an employee, he also commits mistakes
and there is nothing wrong in correcting him because it is for the betterment
of his job performance in the organization.

3. What size company appeals to you for employment (small, medium, large)?
Explain why.

Large scale companies appeal to him the most because he believes that
large companies means bigger opportunities for him. He said that if bigger
companies have more jobs that can offer and their affiliate companies will
provide a wider horizon of chances. He was also amazed by the factory they
visited when he was still studying. This happening in his life made him dream of
working in large companies.

4. Are you willing to relocate? If so, where?

As of the moment, he said that he is not yet willing to relocate because

he just started this year in their company now. He is still in the process of
getting experience and earning money for his review before taking the Board
Examination for Chemical Engineers.

5. Are you a planner, a listener, or a talker? Give at least one example to support
your answer.

He is a planner. He loves doing jobs which are planned before executing

them. In his job today, there were no instances yet where he showed his
planning skills but when he was still a student, when there were group
projects, he was always tasked to do the planning portion of the project.

6. Are you a leader or a follower? Provide an example that supports your answer.

He is more of a leader. He works well and effectively when he is the one

leading the group. He told me of a story in their workplace where he and his
two co-employees were tasked to see a minor machine that malfunctioned.
According to him, he was the one who led his group and they were able to
troubleshoot the problem.

7. Give an example of how you functioned as a member of a team. What role did
you assume in the group?

As a member of a team, he assumes that he functions as the planner. He

just elaborated what he said in number 5 question. He sees to it that things
are made according to plans always. When he was still a student, there were a
lot of group works in their laboratory subjects and every time that there were
experiments, he was the one who planned before doing them.

8. How well do you perform under pressure? Provide an example that supports
your answer.

Sometimes, working under pressure does not give him the best service
but it mostly brings out the best in him. For instance, last month when they
were repairing a machine that malfunctioned again, they were forced to have
overtime because the machine was really needed by the company so they
repaired it and they went home late at night already. He added that “luckily”
they were able to repair it.

9. Give at least one example of how you accept and use constructive criticism to
improve yourself and your work.

There was one time in their workplace when he was scolded by their
supervisor because he was not doing his job properly because according to him,
he felt so sleepy that time because he went somewhere else the day before.
Instead of whining and doing negative things, he immediately approached his
supervisor and apologized. Since then, he sees to it already that he is really
prepared before going to his work.
