In this world there are many different languages, for example Indonesia

LITERATURE REVIEW
This chapter is devoted to explaining in more detail and in depth on this
research, which consists of the main topics involved in this thesis.
A. Theoritical Framework
Here will discuss and review the theory relating to research, namely
1. Vocabulary
The relationship between grammar and vocabulary in learning English is
very important, in making an English sentence, vocabulary is very important to
increase the number of words in English. Without knowing the vocabulary we
have nothing to say. Wallace (1982:144) says that “learning vocabulary is a
complex process which requires the ability to recognize the words, remember
them, and to pronounce, spell and use them correctly”. So it is important to
know the meaning of every vocabulary, not just memorize it but everyone should
know how to spell every vocabulary correctly too.
2. Definition of Vocabulary
Vocabulary is words we must know to communicate effectively; words in
speaking (expressive vocabulary) and words in listening or receptive vocabulary
(Neuman and Dwyer, 2009). Expressive vocabulary is the "output" word of the
language, how people express their desires and needs through words shaped into
sentences or phrases, people need to express their thoughts with the right
combination of words, so here the usefulness and role of vocabulary are
important. Expressive vocabulary refers to words that a person can express or
produce, for example, by speaking or writing. In general, receptive vocabulary
appears to develop before expressive vocabulary over the course of early language
development. Receptive vocabulary refers to all the words that can be understood
by a person, including spoken, written, or manually signed words. Receptive
vocabulary is the “input” word of the language, Receptive vocabulary is the
ability to understand verbal (spoken) and nonverbal (written, gestural) language.
Receptive language includes skills such as following directions, understanding
gestures, identifying vocabulary and basic concepts, and answering questions.
