MURDER
DIRECTED BY ALFRED HITCHCOCK
STARRING HERBERT MARSHALL
Filmed m
Murder is one of the most ra r e of Hitchcock's early sound films and of old Sc
one of his few whodunits. A young actress is accused and convicted of the scre
the murder of one of her friends. However, one juror (Herbert Mar Mr. Mag
shall) is convinced of her innocence and begins an investigation of his finest of
own. To tell more of the story would be unfair to the viewer . In this his
and is a
third sound film, Hitchcock experiments with stream of consciousness
technique and in the use of dialogue as an effect, as in the jury room round. Q
scene in which the other jurors attempts to convince Marshall to vote
guilty become a wall of sound. Some scenes were improvised before
the camera, and In one scene the music for Herbert Marshall's radio is
provided by a 30-piece orchestra just off camera . We think you will find
Hitchcock's MURDER an exciting experience and a fine addition to
your collection. Quality-A. 16mm Sound $224.95

BULL SHEET
Well, here it is. The end of another year rolls around and it is time to look over all of our
operations to determine our futu re course. Th is year we have made many serious business
decisions that will have an effect on all of our customers. And as usual there is some good news
and some bad news.
First the bad news. It looks to us that regu lar 8mm is about f inished and we look forward
next year to converting, all 8mm releases 'to Super 8mm and beg in a phased withd rawal of regular 8mm prints. We have also
decided to discontinue about one thirdof the film list ing's featu red in previous catalogues. T hese apply mostly to 8mm films
which have not aroused a great interest among co llectors and wh ich it has become , therefore, uneconomical to continue in
release. So that those among you who might like to pick up on any of these items may do so, we are placing an asterisk next
to the items to be d isconti nued in t his issue of the catalog on the alphabetical listings page. This will be the last catalogue in
which these films will appear. .
To offset this loss of material we have some good news. Beginni ng with our Jan ua ry catalogue , we plan to release new
featu re films at a greatly expanded rate. Among these new ti t les will be some that are truly fantastic and should keep your
heart apound ing. One of the othe r advantages of d iscontinu ing some of the dead wood is that it will make inventory control
much more reasonab le and we intend t o finally eliminate the last vestiges of t he occasional slow delivery problem.
Lastly, and unfortunately , there are just bound to be some price increases going into effect shortly - some as earl y as the
next cat alogue. We don't like t his any more than you do but we like to eat meat here in Connecticut too - at lease o nce in a
while. We have felt it necessary t o t ri m back sl ightly our library d iscou nts al so and these w ill be reflected in the January
catalogue also. .
So there it is: many good new titles, fewer old t itles, faster delivery and , in some cases, slightly higher prices. A mixed bag
to be sure but all part of grow ing pains.
