Please read first

This manual describes how to install CAM-TOOL and direct translators.


We recommend you to operate in accordance with this manual. The operation flow is as shown below.

- Chapter 1 Pre-operation check and Precautions -
Chapter 1 .Pre-operation check and Precautions
Check below before installing CAM-TOOL.

-OS limitation
CAM-TOOL is available for the following operating systems. Proper operation is not guaranteed on
a computer with other operating system.
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2
Windows VISTA Business x64 Edition Service Pack 1
Windows VISTA Ultimate x64 Edition
Windows 7 Professional x64 Edition No Service Pack and Service Pack 1
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Edition

- Disk space required for installation


CAM-TOOL Approximately 700MB
CAM-TOOL BaseZero Approximately 350MB
CAM Processor Approximately 310MB
Direct Translator Approximately 15MB to 1.2GB
-CATIAV5(Import/Export)
-Parasolid(Import/Export)
-NX(Import)
-CADmeister(Import)

*When ".NETFramework3.5” is not installed on your computer, a further 500MB of free disk space
is required.

- Chapter 2 Install -
Chapter 2 .Install

Log on to the computer as “Administrator” or as a user with administrative privileges.

(1) Install of CAM-TOOL


Insert the CAM-TOOL installation media into a drive. The [Main] dialog box as shown below appears.
Click [32bitOS] to install on a 32 bit OS machine, and click [64bitOS] to install on a 64 bit OS machine.

When the [CAM-TOOL Setup] dialog box appears, click “CAM-TOOL”.

Installation of merge modules will start.
*If “.NETFramework3.5” is not installed on your computer, this process will take approximately 7 minutes.

Installation of a HASP driver will start.

The dialog box as shown below will appear. Click “OK”.

Connect a protect key (HASP) to the USB port of a computer.

The settings will be updated.

When the [Welcome] dialog box is displayed, click “Next”.

The [License Agreement] dialog box is displayed. Read “C&G Systems Software License Agreement” and select the
toggle button of “I accept the terms in the license agreement”. Then, Click “Next”.

In the [Customer Information] dialog box, input “User Name” and “Organization”, and then click “Next”.
*The entered information will be included in the property of model files.

- Chapter 2 Install -
The [Destination Folder] dialog box is displayed. Click “Next”.
*If you want to change the installation location, click “Change” and select a destination folder.

[No.1]

[No.2]

[No.1] above is the location where CAM-TOOL is installed.

[No.2] above is the location where data files are installed. (This is not displayed for
the installation of CAM Processor.)
-"Data files" are the files that include sample data (NC machine file, Tool DB file, for
example).
-The folders under the folder specified here will be the default destinations to save
various data you create. (They are changeable after installation.) Accordingly, it is
recommended to specify a different location than OS installation drive.
-See the last page for the structure of data files.

The [Ready to Install the Program] dialog box is displayed. Click “Install”.

The install will start. It will take several minutes.

When the [Completed] dialog box is displayed, click “Finish”.

Installation of “CAM-TOOL” is complete.

If you have direct translators, proceed to (2) “Install of Direct Translator”.


If you don’t have direct translators, proceed to Chapter 3 [First startup and Get Code Word].

(2)Install of Direct Translator

Please perform this operation only when you have the license of direct translator.

Please confirm that a protect key (HASP) is connected to the USB port of a computer.

Insert the CAM-TOOL installation media into a drive. The [Main] dialog box as shown below appears.
Click [32bitOS] to install on a 32 bit OS machine, and click [64bitOS] to install on a 64 bit OS machine.

When the [CAM-TOOL Setup] dialog box appears, click “Direct Translator”.

When the [Welcome] dialog box is displayed, click “Next”

The [License Agreement] dialog box is displayed. Read “C&G Systems Software License Agreement” and select the
toggle button of “I accept the terms in the license agreement”. Then, Click “Next”.

When the [Destination Folder] dialog box is displayed, click “Next”.
*If you want to change the installation destination, click “Change” and select a destination folder.

In the [Setup Type] dialog box, select “Complele” and click “Next”.

*Select “Complete” except for a particular case. The license information is read and applications
are installed. Selecting “Custom” enables you to choose modules to install.

When the [Ready to Install the Program] dialog box is displayed, change the icon of the module you want to

install to and click “Install”.

The installation will start.

When the [Completed] dialog box is displayed, click “Finish”.

Installation of “Direct Translator“ is complete.

(1) Confirm Start Menu

Please confirm that there is the menu [Start] - [All Programs] - [CAM-TOOL] - [CAM-TOOL V8.1]
(*[CAM-TOOL V8.1(64bit)] on a 64 bit OS machine) .

If you installed direct translators, their menus are displayed under [CAM-TOOL] – [Translator].

(2) Get CodeWord

You need to get a CodeWord if you have installed CAM-TOOL for the first time. It is impossible to start
CAM-TOOL without a CodeWord.
Select [Start] - [All Programs] - [CAM-TOOL] – [CAM-TOOL V8.1] (*[CAM-TOOL V8.1(64bit)] on a 64 bit
OS machine), or double-click the shortcut icon on the desktop. The code word registration dialog box as
shown below will appear.

Please enter “Keyword” (*1) and essential information in the CODEWORD request form delivered with
the application, and send it to us by FAX.

We will let you know a codeword as soon as we can. Enter the codeword in the “CodeWord” (*2) in the
dialog box.

After entering a codeword, click “OK” to start CAM-TOOL.


*Entering a codeword is required only at the first start-up of CAM-TOOL after the installation. It is not
required for the next start-up.

- Chapter 3 First startup and Get CodeWord -

On a Windows Vista computer, the [User Account Control] dialog box will appear.
(The displayed dialog box differs depending on the login user’s privileges.)

On a Windows 7 computer, the [User Account Control] dialog box will appear.
(The displayed dialog box differs depending on the login user’s privileges.)

Chapter 4 .Uninstall

Log on to the computer as “Administrator” or as a user with administrative privileges.

(1) Uninstall CAM-TOOL


Click [Start] – [All Programs] – [CAM-TOOL] – [Uninstall].

On Windows VISTA, Windows 7, click [Run as administrator], which is shown by clicking


the right mouse button on [Uninstall].

Follow the displayed wizards to uninstall.

(2) Uninstall direct translators


Open [Add or Remove Programs].

Select a translator you wish to uninstall from the list, and click the “Remove” button.

Follow the displayed wizards to uninstall.

- Chapter 5 Troubleshooting -
Chapter 5 .Troubleshooting

This chapter describes the error messages that appear during the operations.
Error dialog
If this error message appears, please check if the
protect key (HASP) is connected. If not, click “OK”,
and go back to the [CAM-TOOL Setup] dialog box.
Connect a protect key (HASP) to your computer,
and restart the installation. If you still have any
problem, please contact our support group.

This message appears when installation is performed


as a user with no administrative privilege.
On a Windows XP computer, log on to the computer
as a user with administrative privileges to install.
On a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer, click
[Run as administrator], which is shown by clicking
the right mouse button.
This message appears when installation is performed
on a computer with inappropriate OS.
See [Chapter 1 Pre-operation check and Precautions].

This message appears when the installer for 64bit OS is


used on a computer with 32bit OS.
Use the installer for 32bit OS.

This message appears when the installer for 32bit OS is


used on a computer with 64bit OS.
Use the installer for 64bit OS.

This message appears when your hard disk (default: C)


does not have enough space.
Make sure you always have a minimum of 500MB of free
disk space before starting installation.

This message appears if there is not enough space
on the destination drive. Specify a drive with enough
space.

This error message appears when you have no


license of direct translators.
