Syllabus at different FIVE levels for Scouts & Guides for Animals & birds:

Pratham Sopan:
1. to create an awareness towards Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and birds, either
domestic or wild.
2. to have a general knowledge of the natural habitat along with their eating habits,
shape and size and all that tends to the well being of the animals and birds.
3. to know the address of the nearest Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
(SPCA’s) or any other NGO’s.
4. to know the types of animals such as Carnivorous & Herbivorous
5. to know the five liberties of animals and birds

Dwitiya Sopan:
Theory

1. to know and respect the animals, usual minor ailments to which they are liable and
what simple remedies may be employed.
2. to classify the animals as pets and domestic ones.
e.g. pets – cat, dog, sparrow, pigeon etc.
Domestic – cow, buffalo, goat, sheep, horse, donkey, camels, ox etc.
3. to have a knowledge of care of animals as are generally kept either as pets or for
domestic purposes.

Practical

1. to pay visit to the Veterinary Hospital and Rescue Centers, to obtain knowledge
about the care to be taken and ailments to be treated.
2. Adoption of animals and birds.
3. Feeding of abandoned animals and birds.

Tritiya Sopan:

Theory

1. to recognize and to know how to prevent different forms of cruelty to animals.

2. to know the natural habitats, environment and food of any three wild animals.
3. to name the endangered and protected species of animals.
4. to know the common diseases of animals and birds along with the causes.
5. On spot treatment of these animals and birds in distress.
6. Formation of animal welfare groups along with “Kindness Club: Scouts & Guides
for Animals & birds”.
Practical

1. to pay visit to the zoo, observe and write a logbook.

2. to raise funds for these captive animals and birds in distress.

Rajya Puraskar:

Theory

1. to study the different species of animals including insects, birds, aquatic animals,
reptiles, carnivorous, herbivorous etc.
2. to pay visit to the forest officer and write a logbook.

Practical

1. to counsel the public in general and the family members in particular about the
compassion towards animals.
2. to move public interest litigations, to protect the animals and birds from
unnecessary pain and sufferings.

Rashtrapati Puraskar:

Theory

1. to know about the different legislations passed by the state and central govt. and
write the names of at least two legislations by state and two by central govt. e.g.
Prevention of cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 along with the Wildlife Protection
Act, 1972 passed by the Central Govt.
2. to know the Rules and Regulations framed by the Central or State Govt. for
animal rights and their welfare.
3. to know the fundamental duties as defined under article 51 A (g) of Indian
Constitution, difference between goods with living creatures, who has sentiments
and feel pain, congestion, suffocation, thrust, hunger and injury.
4. to know the state, central and concurrent lists and subjects along with the
formation of legislation’s.
5. to prepare project report for awareness about five freedoms of animals & birds.

Practical

1. to assist the Veterinary Doctor in the Veterinary clinic or hospital at least two
hours a week for six months.
2. On spot treatments of animals and birds in distress.
3. Functioning of ambulance and shelter for animals and birds in distress.
4. Formation of publicity materials for awareness and motivation.
5. Badges for recognition, law enforcement.

Malnutrition rates by region:

Gujarat: In this state, 44.7% of children are underweight, 22.3% of the
population is undernourished and 6.1% of children who die under the age
of 5 die from hunger.
Karnataka: In this state, 37.6% of children are underweight, 28.1% of the
population is undernourished and 5.5% of children who die under the age
of 5 die from hunger.
Madhya Pradesh: In this state, 59.8% of children are underweight, 23.4%
of the population is undernourished and 9.4% of children who die under
the age of 5 die from hunger.
Rajasthan: In this state 40.4% of children are underweight 14.0% of the

Uttar Pradesh: In this state 42.3% of children are underweight 14.5% of
the population is undernourished and 9.6% of children who die under the
age of 5 die from hunger.
West Bengal: In this state 38.5% of children are underweight 18.5% of
the population is undernourished and 5.9% of children who die under the
age of 5 die from hunger.
The Govt. of India moving forward to implement the right to education
but why Malnutrition?, the UN affiliated OIPA in India demands
immediate relief to all effective children's, where as all above said
Government claims to be good governance over there but I don't agree.
