Conscious Discipline® Parenting
Conscious Discipline® is a complete social and emotional intelligence program for
parents. It goes beyond traditional parenting programs and offers adults the
understanding, insights and skills to discipline oneself first and children second. It
provides adults the seven relationship skills they will need to guide their children
into becoming responsible, respectful adults. These same skills will also help adults
at work and with their other relationships.
The Conscious Discipline® program is based on the following premises:
1. You cannot teach your children skills you do not possess yourself. Parents must
be empowered before they can empower their children.
2. Children learn from what they see and experience, not from what they are told.
3. Discipline situations arise out of conflict. Conflict is the result of two or more
people with differing needs. How we respond to conflicts with our children
teaches them how to respond to their own needs and the needs of others for
the rest of their lives.
4. Daily conflicts with children provide opportunities for adults to teach children
valuable social and life skills.
5. The motivation for children to behave comes from being in relationship with the
significant adults in their lives and from the desire to remain engaged in those
relationships.

The Conscious Discipline® Parenting-training will be held once a month in the

evenings from 6:45-8:30 PM. Classes will be held alternately at the Cocoa
Campus, Building 3 Room 103 (North side of campus-off Clearlake Rd) and
Melbourne Campus, Building 4 (Auditorium on South side of Campus).
