To whom it may concern:
I have had the pleasure of knowing Caitlin Mariscal for approximately 2 years. As a personal family
friend, I have had the opportunity to observe Caitlin as she has developed into a young adult. Caitlin’s
commitment to personal growth and education is a part of her daily life. Caitlin is a role model for other
young women and a strong mentor for her siblings. As the eldest child, she has set a tone for excellence in
school work, activities and dedication to her family. I believe her experiences in her personal life combined
with the previously mentioned attributes will give her a strong foundation for succeeding in her Higher
Education endeavors.
During Caitlin’s high school career, she successfully maintained an above average GPA. Her hard work
and respect for her studies helped her balance school and athletics while persevering through adversity. I
am continuously impressed with her ability to achieve such an outstanding GPA given some of the life
lessons she has recently experienced. Caitlin is an accomplished young adult and presents herself with
poise and confidence. Her role as Captain of her high school volleyball team has taught her selfdiscipline,
leadership and patience, all of which she carries into her family life. Caitlin’s younger siblings look to her
for guidance and as someone they can aspire to be like. Caitlin will be a firstgeneration college student,
she will be a leader for her siblings and will help them to set their own educational and professional goals.
As the Director of the Students First Center at the University of California, Merced, I assist students, on a
daily basis, with achieving educational goals. I was honored when Caitlin asked me to write her a letter of
recommendation and to help play a part in achieving these goals. I am very excited to see her move into
the next stage of her life and to pursue her hopes of acquiring a degree in Biology or Kinesiology.
I would like to formally recommend Caitlin for this opportunity. I am confident that she will excel in her
higher education career and will be an asset to any University. If you would like additional information
about Caitlin, you can contact me at lperry@ucmerced.edu.
Sincerely,
