ANALYSIS

In experiment no. 401, we explore the different characteristics of magnet, its components,
magnetic field and magnetic force. We observed the properties of the two parts. The magnetic field have a
number of important properties which are all easy to comprehend by reason of this experiment. The easiset
way to relate the poles of the magnet is with a bar magnet. Magnetic field look for the pathway of least
resistance between closed loops from pole to pol. With this obeservation, one can say like poles repel each
other and the magnetic flux line shows the repulsion of the magnet.

Part A. Shows that magnetic force can be set up by a moving charge and by an electric current in a
conductor. 42 is the current loop we were assigned to use. Magnetic force is computed by the mass of the
magnet assembly. Adding extra magnets one at a time to comprehend that the magnetic force on current
loop is the change in the mass.

Part B. Current is adjusted every trial with an increment of 0.5 Amps. When increase in current
happens, the mass or the magnetic force changes as well. It is important to make sure that the digital
balance’s initial reading is at 0 grams in order to get the accurate mass of the magnet assembly.

Part C. This time we explore the effect of using different current loops. The complete list of
current loops and its equivalent lengths are stated in the data sheet. The current is now changed to 2 Amps
which the current and the magnetic field was held constant. Magnetic force increases as well, when the
length of the wire increases.

Part D. The dial of the current balance accessory should be at zero and should always be in every
trial to avoid mistakes. The magnetic field should be parallel to the wire of the coil, therefore, the magnet
assembly is postioned as shown in the manual. By changing the angle between the wire and the magnetic
field using an increment of 10 degrees in everry trial, we can observe the relationship of magnetic force and
coil. From our observation, the magnetic force increases when the angle is increased gradually.

The possible source of error is when power supply fails, since whenever that current being
increased or decreased the current will change when something is done in the set-up. Another possible
source of error is when the setup of the dial of the current balance accessory unit is not on zero. When the
dial is not at zero, it will definitely affect the values. Lastly, possible error is when the reading in the
electronic balance is not set to zero every trial, this could result to wrong values.
