This lesson is important for the students’ to learn because it introduces a new concept which
they can apply when adding and subtracting to check for accuracy. Through their exploration
of working with the groups of objects, they will find that there is a pattern when you add or
subtract numbers which are, even and even, even and odd, odd and odd.
Prior knowledge:
Number sense up to 20
Number comparisons up to 20
Comparing 2 numbers between 1 and 10
Written numerals up to 100
Familiar with matching and counting strategies
Learning Objectives:
Count on in twos, start recognizing even and odd numbers from 0 to 20.
Find equity of even numbers (extend to 20) to find which are even and which are odd.

What is the difference between odd and even numbers?
Lesson Introduction:
Introduce the number patterns of even and odd ( I will start saying the pattern of even and odd
numbers from 0 to 20 and explain how to identify if the number is odd or even).
