Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge): time:

The student teacher will explain to the students: new type of writing called” procedural writing”,
where we can use steps in our life. And the benefit of using the steps. For example, student 10
teacher will show the IPad as an example: first step: you need to enter the password. Second
step: you need to press on the application that you want. After that, student teacher will give a
minute to think for the students to give her an other example.
Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures): 30

The student teacher will hold a whiteboard and write the first letter from the two words and
show it to the students. Students will be giving a chance to guess what we will make today using
the steps. The first student who answers correctly, she or he will get the chance to move the
cover from the basket and show the materials to the students. The student teacher will explain
the first step when you write a procedural writing task is to write you materials: what do you
need. Then you should think about how I will do it? (Steps!).

Starting making the “Lemon juice” with the students.


1- What we will need: 4 lemons, 1 bottle of water, spoon and knife, Sugar, Cup.
2- Step1: cutting the lemons into halves (remind the students to let an adult cut using the
knife as this is a danger to them).
3- Step 2: squeeze the lemon into the cup. (involving 4 students to this job).
4- Step 3: add one teaspoon of sugar to the cup. (involving one student in this job).
5- Step 4: Pour the water into the cup. (involving one student to this job).
6- Step 5: mixing everything in the cup using the spoon. (involving one student to this job).

Note: Student teacher will send the students to their table after explain each activity. Also,
checking who is sitting quietly and read to do the activity.

Blue group: students will create a booklet of “lemon juice by order the cutting the steps and
order it from the first step until the last step. After they paste the steps into the booklet, the will
draw pictures that represent the sentences and color it.

Red and Green group: in pairs, each student will have pictures of steps “making a lemon juice”.
Each student will show a picture to his or her partner, a partner should say the step. Then they
swap.

Purple and yellow group: students will have two papers: the first paper has pictures of the steps
of “making a lemon juice”. The other paper has five boxes and numbered with the math symbol.
Students need to cut the picture and paste in the correct box.

Note: Student teacher will stop the activities by say “hands on top, that means stop” and ask
the students to clean up and come sit on the carpet.

Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment):
The student teacher will test the students' comprehension by say the sentence steps and the
students identify which step is this. Or asking what happened in step 2 for example.
