The article also discussed widely on the previous case studies on novice
teacher’s challenges as they enter into the teaching world. Basically, the case studies
explicate that novice teachers in different context face similar challenges such as
irrelevant pre-service preparation and difficult first-year teaching assignments, lack of
personal support (from friends and family), financial difficulties, isolation, overwork and
fatigue, deficit thinking as well as lack of specific curriculum guidelines, collegial
planning, mentor support and administrative supervision. Due to these challenges,
novice teachers found it difficult to contribute actively in the service during their first
service years. As solutions to these issues and challenges, some researchers did
suggest the teacher education programme or the administrators to conduct programs
to support new teacher during their first year to address contextual issues on isolation
from colleagues and the lack of specific and relevant feedback regarding teaching
performance. Additionally, a researcher had highlighted the importance of a reflective
partner at the school who enable the novice teachers to share their views and
challenges and this allowed them the freedom to examine and transform their teaching
practice, and these enable them to learn from experience and reframe their initial
challenges.
