Dear Master Trainer,

You are invited to attend training on Formative Assessment Principles and Practices.
The training aims to help you to…
 Understand your role as Master Trainers  Discuss possible challenges during the cascade
 Understand the training content (i.e. formative and consider solutions
assessment principles and practices)  Understand how to give effective feedback to
 Recognise the link between formative teachers (following formative assessment
assessment and the CEFR-aligned curriculum principles)

You will be placed in a group that matches your expertise (Primary or Secondary education). After your
training, you will go out and train teachers on how to apply formative assessment in their classes and make
their classrooms learning-centred environments.
You will be learning a lot about formative assessment and how to apply it in English language lessons. You
will find a lot of information in the attached Teacher Handbook document. The Teacher Handbook is your
pre-training reading. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with its content as it will make it easier for
you to understand the content of the training.
Below is the training timetable and session titles. The Ministry will confirm with you whether you will be
attending the week beginning 5th or 12th March 2018.
Monday to Thursday
Session 1 09.00 – 10.30 am (90 min)

Break 10.30 – 11.00 am (30 min)

Session 2 11.00 – 12.30 pm (90 min)

Lunch 12.30 – 02.00 pm (90 min)

Session 3 02.00 – 03.15 pm (75 min)

Break 03.15 – 03.45 pm (30 min)

Session 4 03.45 – 05.00 pm (75 min)

Session 5* 05.00 – 05.30 pm (30 min)


*Session 5 is held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only.
