RESEARCH INTEREST
I am interested in the relationship between socioeconomic status and race and how that
relationship affects minorities. Particularly, I wish to see how that relationship impacts the
health, educational, income and life outcomes of African Americans.

EXPERIENCE
Resident Adviser ​August 2017- Present
Resident advisers are the campus authority that most regularly interact with students. The job
responsibilities comprise of helping students foster a hall community, being of service to
students for advisement and assistance with any hall issues, and managing a resident program
budget. Programs are meant to bring residents together, as well as assist them in thinking about
topics they may not have otherwise thought about.
Responsibilities:
● Managed a program budget of $270, which I used to conduct programs and fund
University councils
● Ensured campus safety
● Mediated resident conflicts

RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP


Research Assistant, ​Coleman Lab March 2018-May 2018
Mentored by: Naniette Coleman (PhD candidate, The University of California, Berkeley)
The main focus of this research was to review various studies on privacy and annotate those
findings. The annotations were to be done in collaboration with other research assistants from
both The University at Buffalo and The University of California, Berkeley team. All work was to
be inputted into an annotated bibliography.
Responsibilities:
● Compiled literature reviews on privacy research
● Generated an annotated bibliography in collaboration with other research assistants

Research Assistant, ​University at Buffalo February 2018-May 2018


Supervised by Dr. Thomas Feeley (Department of Communications)
Primary research focused on exploring health communications and the differences found
between liberals and conservatives in respect to how they perceive health, gore, and their
tolerance for ambiguity. Each finding discovered by a research assistant was to be annotated and
discussed in a literature review.

Interview Based Research, ​University at Buffalo April 2018 - May 2018


Collaborated with lead faculty, Dr. Mary nell Trautner (Department of Sociology)
Research was concerned with comprehending reactions to past illegal juvenile behavior.
Responses were transcribed and analyzed in collaboration with other undergraduates.
Responsibilities:
● Collaborated with lead faculty to locate, recruit, and interview two people on their
experiences with, and others’ reactions to illegal juvenile behavior
● Conducted two 20-minute interviews and demonstrated strong attention to detail by
accurately transcribing responses.
● Completed 3-hour tutorial to learn effective and ethical practices on conducting research
with human subjects.
● Analyzed interviewee responses and applied knowledge of criminological theory in
6-page written paper
