Overall aim and context of the lesson

The aim of teaching students English lesson is how to pronounce, recognize the shape and write
the letter.

Identify a lesson and what standards are you addressing
This lesson was my first lesson in the English subject. I planned with my MST to starts with a
letter because I want to know their knowledge and levels in the English, so I could give them
math and science then. I showed my MST and told her that I will use hands-on activities because
she depends on the books for most times. I taught them a letter “Pp” was the letter of this week. I
started my lesson by a song and introduce the letter then I explained the activities to students on
the white board.

What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?
What did the students do?
This lesson was for KG2-c students in Alkamal School. I taught the lesson in the classroom
environment where the students already learn in it. Because I used internet for display the letter p
song. It was the first time I taught them so I still don’t know how they will behave or respond to
me. However, I tried to achieve in my lesson, manage the misbehave students and don’t let
students to move while I am teaching them. It was first time and I felt a bit tired because of
managing them and hard to respond to me as first time.

How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?
How well did you engage the students?
As I said they didn’t respond because it was the first time I taught them, and I accept that.
Because as I observe they were not give their teacher attention. But I didn’t give up I act as a
teacher and try to use a high level voice with them to get their attention. I connected this lesson to
prior letter they took and asked to give me words with letter sound of it. Then, I asked to give
words started with letter sound of today letter. I engaged students by turn on the letter P song, and
chose some students to wear the words start with letter P and act it.

Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?
As first experience of teaching them, it was hard and a challenging to manage them. They took
time to respond and do activities. Because they don’t do hands-on activities they depend on book
all time and for all subjects. I put some goals to achieve it in the end of the lesson they got the
concept I taught to them. In addition, that I accepted to not respond and move in the class but I
tried and show them the teacher character to them.

How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
What are the implications for your professional practice?
I will work to make more activities that students can be busy with and learn from it. Moreover, I
will work to manage the students by using high level voice as I noticed they are active. The
implication to me was practicing to manage a full class of misbehave students, by explore more
strategies let the students to be managed in class time.
