3.   Show the students laminated flashcards with pictures and words that has the ‘ph’ sound. By
doing this, I will show each flashcard one by one and ask students to say what they see and to
pronounce the sound.

4.   Then, I will ask the students to grab their white boards and markers and write 10 words with
the ‘ph’ sound, For example, dolphin, phonics, phone, photo, etc… After that, I will pick
students to say their words out loud and I will write them on the board.
5.   Next, I will ask the students to do the line and dot diagraph using the words they already wrote
on their boards. Which is putting a line under 2 words and a dot under one word.

6.   Play with them bingo.

7.   After, I will write a sentence on my board with words using the ‘ph’ sound (modelling), then
make each student write one sentence on their boards, and tell them they have 2 minutes to
swap with their partners and each partner has to underline the words that has the ‘ph’ sound.

Guided  Experience  (group  working  with  the  teacher)

-   The activity is a worksheet that has 3 columns, begging, middle, and end. Each student will
have small pictures beside him/her; those pictures have the sound ‘ph’ in them. The students
have to think where does the ‘ph’ sound stands, and has to glue them in the right column.

-   I  will  be  rotating  in  each  group  to  answer  questions  and  check  if  the  students  are  doing  the
work  in  a  correct  way,  since  the  phonics  class  includes  all  the  high  ability  students.

-   Tell the students: thumbs up if u found the activity easy, and helped you learn the sound well.
-   My observations on students, and how they respond to questions
Reflection  WWW/EBI

Behavior  management:    WWW: The students listened to my instructions and I did not need to use the
behavior chart or even take away a dojo point from a student. / EBI: It would have been better if the phonics
class students were my usual students rather than having different students from each class when it is phonics
class, since I got used to my students.

Groupings/differentiation:  WWW: The phonics lessons are all streamed, so this lesson is to challenge the high
ability students. All students in this class are above age related expectation, the class went smoothly because
all of the students are smart and know what to do from the first time I tell them. / EBI: it would have been
better if I did different kinds of activity for each groups, and students rotate to each activity.

Next  Steps  in  learning  and  teaching:  My
next steps in learning and teaching is to find a more entertaining way
to teach phonics, and to be a bit more relaxed when the students are doing the activities.
