LAMBERT DOLPHIN AND GOD’S SCIENCE 2

Lambert Dolphin conducted his graduate work in Physics and Electrical Engineering at

Stanford University (1954-1956). He worked as a Senior Research Physicist at Stanford

Research Institute (SRI) until 1987, when he left to pursue small-scale independent geophysical

consulting services. A dysfunctional family in his childhood had initiated a strong desire to

discover the meaning of life. His investigations into science, for the meaning, revealed that, “The

Universe was marvelously intricate, orderly, and structured, but evidently a cold, impersonal and

existentially meaningless place” (Dolphin, 2006).

I decided to write this paper on Dolphin, predominantly, due to the fact that I have been

living within his household for over five years and because he is a very prestigious and world-

renowned theologian. His influences on my beliefs have profoundly shaped who I am as a

spiritual individual. As a result of my upbringing in the Protestant/Evangelical Christian

environment, I was immediately receptive to his theologies. Dolphin’s extensive scientific

background was also a major contributing factor to my decision to make him the primary theorist

of this paper. I have always been fascinated by the progressive discoveries of answers to

mysteries of the Universe. I have also been intrigued by the major paradigm shift that Dolphin

undertook when he discontinued his utilization of science, as his sole method in his process to

reveal the meaning of life, and incorporated Christianity as his primary vehicle for his

comprehension of the purpose of his existence and that of all else.

Dolphin states that, “…there is no guarantee of safety, prosperity, good health, let alone

attaining our cherished goals (Dolphin, 2012: All of us Need to Repent). Before the Fall of Man

(the instance of Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit) there was guaranteed safety, eternal

life, health, and eternal universal renewable energy due to “God’s sustaining power” (Dolphin,
LAMBERT DOLPHIN AND GOD’S SCIENCE 3

1998). The original sin committed by Adam and Eve resulted in bondage to sin and its

consequences for all of their descendants. Jesus Christ, God in the form of man, came to Earth to

give Himself as a pure sacrifice for all humankind so that they may be freed from eternal

separation from God. Dolphin posits that, although faith in the power of Jesus Christ is sufficient

for eternal life, Christians must maintain a connection with God and His principles if they are to

remain unmolested by the wickedness of our modern world (Dolphin, 2014).

Despite his search for answers, primarily, in Christianity, Dolphin continues to identify

himself as a scientist and, more specifically, a physicist. His knowledge of physics has enabled

him to understand supernatural Biblical phenomena in a realistic sense and not merely from a

perspective of blind faith, awe, and wonder. Dolphin seeks to explain Biblical phenomena and

principles in such a way that they can be perceived as more than fairy tales, folklore, and

legends. He has dedicated many decades to teaching Biblical concepts with science and theology

as two sources that supplement each other in the path to understand the ways of God.

Dolphin and Hawking differ in their theories of the origin and ultimate fate of the

universe. While Dolphin posits that God created and will ultimately destroy the universe, as we

know it, Hawking believes that the universe began with the Big Bang. Unlike Dolphin, Hawking

(1996) posits many theories for the origin of life on Earth and on Earth alone. He proposes such

theories as that life evolved from the elements that originated on Earth and that Earth was

“seeded” by DNA from somewhere else in the universe. Although Dolphin and Hawking differ

in their theories of how the universe was created, they do agree that the universe does have a

beginning. Dolphin agrees with Hawking’s theory that black holes do not exist and that the speed

of light is slowing down. These two theorists are exhibit more similarities, than differences, in
LAMBERT DOLPHIN AND GOD’S SCIENCE 4

their beliefs. An important similarity that the two share is their belief that there is an imminent

threat of the development of a genetically engineered superhuman race (Dolphin, 2014 and

Hawking, 1996). In fact, Hawking (1996) believes that humans have already created alternate

life. He believes that computer viruses should be classified as life due to their ability reproduce

themselves and reprogram the metabolism of the host computer (Hawking, 1996).

The most wealthy and powerful people and organizations of the world are capable and

certainly interested in creating a superhuman race, as well as reducing the world’s population of

humans so that the superhuman race may achieve a level of Godhood (Dolphin, 2014). This high

society promotes this agenda with an atheist ideology. They do not consider anything in the

universe to be connected to, or the result of, any sort of a divine creator. This high society is

increasingly influencing the world’s educational systems. They reject any mention of God in

their curriculum. As a result, there is an increased need for Christian scientists and politicians to

exert their influence on the political climate of our times (Dolphin, 2014)

Dolphin teaches that the God of the Bible brings: matter out of nothing, order out of

chaos, light out of darkness, and life out of death (Dolphin, 2000). Jesus Christ spoke light into

being on the first day of Creation, after God the Father created space, time, and matter. The

universal renewable energy that prevented decay was the result of all that was created on the first

day (Dolphin, 1998). God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, on the sixth day of

Creation. God’s only commandment for Adam and Eve to adhere to was to not eat from the Tree

of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Dolphin states that drug use is likened to a seducing

woman, “a personification of evil known as the Great Harlot” (Dolphin, 1968). The tempting

devices of the Great Harlot are connected to the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Just as
LAMBERT DOLPHIN AND GOD’S SCIENCE 5

Adam and Eve’s eyes were “opened” and awakened to their nakedness, guilt, shame and remorse

by the fruit from the Tree, so do drugs open one’s mind to dimensions and aspects of the

universe that are much more complex and powerful than the typical realms of humanity. The

genetically engineered superhuman race that Dolphin and Hawking theorize of can also be

connected to the Great Harlot and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. To succeed at

producing a superhuman race would cause a drastic paradigm shift and vastly change the course

of history.

True, "the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament proclaims his handiwork"

as the 19th Psalm announces, but everywhere we look the universe is damaged beyond repair and

in need of a radical renovation (Dolphin, 1998)."If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, all

things have passed away, behold all things have become new." (2 Cor. 5:17). Science cannot

give us the dreams of our hearts, but can only modify our physical existence here and now, to try

to make it more comfortable in this broken and dying world. But what we really long for is

outside the physical realm, sometimes dimly sensed in moments of beauty, and only reachable

through Jesus Christ. Humans are containers to hold spirit of Jesus Christ. Just as a compass is

tuned into and directed towards magnetic North, so does worship tune one into whom Jesus

Christ is.

Dolphin states that all humans possess a body, spirit, and soul (Dolphin, 2012). When any

of us becomes a Christian, (by surrendering his or her life to Jesus Christ as Lord), that

individual is taken out of the kingdom of this world and fully identified with Jesus in His death,

burial and resurrection—in the kingdom of God and of Christ. God immediately renews the

person’s spirit and soul (though this is not something outsiders or bystanders usually are aware
LAMBERT DOLPHIN AND GOD’S SCIENCE 6

of.) It turns out that the body or “outer man” is ordinarily not made new until the individual

“dies” and receives a new body entirely. But the Spirit of God imparts new life to our old bodies

while we wait for our new bodies.

Through my analysis of Lambert Dolphin’s theories I learned of the theory that the

Second Law of Thermodynamics took effect immediately following the Fall of Man. Dolphin

(2014) clearly addresses the influences of evil on modern Christians. He explains that Christians

must remain in fellowship and gather just as the early church gathered. Small and specific Bible

studies were integral to the early Christians. This type of Christianity is greatly needed to ensure

Christian purity in a world that is quickly plunging itself towards physical and spiritual

destruction.
