1.1 LMT Software Overview

A Local Maintenance Terminal (LMT) is a network management tool used to operate and
maintain a base station.

Version Information
The LMT version described in this manual is V12.13.30.

Application Scenarios
The LMT is applied to the following scenarios:
l Commissioning on customer site.
l If the transmission link of a base station is broken, the base station can be connected
through the LMT.
l If an engineering problem occurs, the base station can be connected through the LMT.

Subsystems
The LMT software is divided into the following four subsystems:
l Embedded Operation Management Subsystem (EOMS) with the base station
configuration and software version management functions.
l Embedded Diagnostic Management Subsystem (EDMS) with the diagnostic test
function and auxiliary functions.
l Embedded Fault Management Subsystem (EFMS) with the alarm management
function.
l Embedded Performance Management Subsystem (EPMS) with the realtime
performance measurement function.

Note:
The EOMS, EFMS, and EDMS support online and offline configuration. The EPMS
supports only online configuration.

Chapter 2
LMT Loading Modes
The LMT software can be loaded in three modes: IE, LMT Start, and local copy.

Note:
Only the GUs with version 4.00 and version 4.09 can load the LMT software in IE or LMT
Start mode.

Loading in IE Mode
1. Start the IE.
2. Enter the IP address of the main control CC board in the address bar, and then press
Enter.
3. Set the login parameters on the Web page. After the setting is completed, the system
downloads the LMT version file from the base station to the local computer through
the FTP and executes the file to log in to the base station.

Note:
l When the main control board is the CC0, the LMT software cannot be compressed
into the station version package. In this case, the LMT cannot be started in IE mode.
l The websites to be accessed must be added to the trusted website list.
l If the Warning-Security dialog box is displayed, select the Always trust content
from this publisher check box.

Load in LMT Start Mode

1. In the LMT version package, double-click LMTTools_setup.exe to install the LMT
Start software.
2. Select Start > Program > ZTE LMTTools > ZX SDR LMT Setting on the desktop.

Base Station Software
Version Upgrade
The software version of a base station can be upgraded by using one of the following three
methods
l Version management

This method applies to intra-platform version upgrades, during which the previous
version will be reserved for rollbacks.
l Image burning
This method applies to inter-platform version upgrades, which do not support
rollbacks.
l Access version management mode configuration
If the method is used, the LMT version must match with the current base station
version.

Operations of EOMS
EOMS System Overview
As a subsystem of the LMT, the EOMS provides multiple functions, including base station
configuration, base station software management, general base station operations, and
real-time check.

EOMS Main Window

For the main window of the EOMS, see Figure 5-1.

Figure 5-1 Main Window of the EOMS

EOMS Login Modes

Users can log in to the EOMS in one of the following modes:

l Online configuration: The LMT is connected to the base station. Users can check and
modify all configuration data of the base station through the LMT.
l Offline configuration: The LMT is not connected to the base station. Users can check
the specified configuration data of the base station through the LMT.
l Version management: The LMT is connected to the base station. Users can upgrade
the version of the base station through the LMT.

LMT Authentication Mechanism

When the user logs in to the base station through the LMT online, the base station will
perform the authentication on the LMT login user. The detailed steps are described below”
1. On the EMS, configure the LMT login user name and password. The LMT
authentication file generated is sent to the base station.
2. On the EMS, open the LMT access authentication.
3. On the LMT, log into with the user name and password configured on the EMS. The
LMT sends the input user name and password to the base station for authentication
at the same time.
4. On the base station, when receiving the user name and password sent by the LMT, the
base station will check whether the user is legal according to the LMT authentication
file.
l If legal, turn to step 5.
l If illegal, the authentication fails. The LMT cannot logs in to the base station, and
the legal authentication file should be obtained again.
5. On the base station, the base station sends the user level of the corresponding user
to the LMT.
6. When the LMT receives the user level sent by the base station, if the level is
“administrator” and the IP address of the base station starts with 192 (local IP access),
the LMT dialog box is displayed.
7. Perform the following operation as required:
l Click Yes: The EMS is disconnected to the base station. The LMT obtains the
modification authentication. The user can check and modify the configuration data
through the LMT.
l Click No: The EMS is connected to the base station. The LMT obtains the query
authentication. The user can check the configuration data through the LMT.
l Click : The LMT stops the base station access operation.

Appendix A
Acquiring an NE
Configuration File
You must acquire a configuration file from the upper-level network management before the
EOMS subsystem is connected. The configuration file applies to the following scenarios:
l When the EOMS uses the offline configuration, you must select a configuration data
file.
l When the EOMS uses the online configuration, if the BS is not configured with data. A
message box will be displayed, prompting the user to import a configuration data file.
l You must specify a configuration data file for the target version when you upgrade the
version.

Prerequisite
l Ensure that the version No. of the lower-level network management for the
configuration file to be exported. The version number must be the same as the
version number of the LMT.
l Ensure the NE radio mode for the configuration file to be exported.

Steps
1. Open the Configuration Management window.
a. In the EMS, right click an NE agent node in the topology tree, and select NE Agent
Management > Start in the popup shortcut to start the NE agent.
The icon of the NE agent node turns from grey to red if the NE agent is started
successfully. Skip this step if the NE agent has been started already.
b. In the EMS, right click an NE agent node in the topology tree, and select Manage
NE > Start NE Management to start the NE management function.

As a result of successful start of the NE agent, a green icon is shown in the

right bottom side of the NE agent node icon.
c. Right click the NE agent node in the topology tree. In the popup shortcut
menu, select NE Management > Configuration Management to open the
Configuration Management Window.

2. Create an NE (the GUL NE is taken as an example, as the methods for creating

different NEs are similar)
a. Right click the subnet node in the left configuration tree and select Create NE, and
the Managed Network Element window is shown in the right side.

b. Configure NE parameters. See Figure A-1.

Figure A-1 Creating an NE

c. Click to save the configuration.

3. Export the data configuration file.
a. Click the Configuration Management menu, and then select Data
Synchronization from the shortcut menu. The Data Synchronization dialog
box is displayed.
b. Select the NE that the configuration files should be exported in the left pane.
c. In the Synchronization Mode area, select Only generate file and unselect check
parameter before synchronization.
d. Click Execute. A message box is displayed. Enter the security code, and then
click OK.

Note:
After the data is synchronized, the system automatically generates the
configuration files. The file is saved in the server of the lower-level network
management by default. The detailed path is ums-svr\cmdata\sync\subnet
++\nodeb\nodeb***\zdb\modbdown.xml.
l ++: indicates the subnet number.
l ***: indicates the NE ID.
