The project will be taken at the Jurupa Valley Nature Center. It will along the side of a

walkway near the entrance of the visiting center. Phase one of the project is to take out 4 inches

of dirt out that’s laid out over the span of 97 feet with normal shovels and flat shovels to get the

dirt out. The dirt will not be disposed but relocated within Center that way we don’t waste their

resources. Over the last 85 feet of the land, I’ll put native succulent plants in groups of 3 for

every 2 feet. After the plants are set up in their groups of 3, the first layer that’ll go on the bottom

is manure to flourish the plants to grow. On top of the manure will be sand laid out evenly to

cover the mulch along with the installation of a drip system with the source of water sprinkles

nearby to provide the water to each bunch of plants. Reason for a drip system is to reduce the use

of water since California is still in a drought and doesn’t bleed off somewhere else as a sprinkler

would do. Since the drip system will be attached to the sprinklers, there won’t be a need to worry

about turning on the system for it has a timer programmed. After the installation and sand is put

down, I’ll then lay down a weed barrier fabric to keep it clean of foreign plants to come in

contact with the plants that’ll be installed. Then a layer of small rocks long enough and deep

enough to cover the fabric to give it a nice look. Once all that is complete I’ll then put wooden

stake barrier to make sure the material i put down doesn’t leave(rocks) and escaping. Phase two

of the plan is to use the 10 feet of room to lay down concrete near the beginning of the project.

I’ll 2x4 pieces of wood long enough to cover the width and length held together by wire ties.

Along with rebar on the inside before laying the concrete down and getting a mix of concrete,
dirt and rocks into the concrete mixer. Lay the concrete mix that is made into the area and

smooth it out with trowel’s and a large enough level to make sure it’s even. After the cement is

starting to harden, I’ll then place the bench in the middle using measurements to indicate the

correct spot. To reinforce the bench from moving, I’ll use screws to drip the bench into the

cement to make it permanent and very difficult to remove.
