Overview

In 1945, representatives of 50 countries met in San Francisco at the United Nations Conference on

International Organization to draw up the United Nations Charter and by October 24, 1945, the United

Nations finally came into existence. That is already 72 years from now and it is undeniable that a lot of

issues in the International Community has been effectively addressed by the said UN. Unfortunately,

Some cannot be addressed effectively as compared to other issues due to the lack of a binding force of

International law to all Member-States.

In summary, the United Nations is focused on five important views as to its function: To maintain

International Peace and Security, Protect Human Rights, Deliver Humanitarian Aid, Promote

Sustainable Development and Uphold International Law.

Global Issues

There are numerous issues that is need to be addressed by the International community and these

issues are trimmed down to the important ones as to my view. Overpopulation, Aids, Lack of fresh

water to sustain human life in some parts of the world, Malnutrition to poverty stricken states or

countries, Conflicts of States to one another involving political differences, Decolonization, Climate

Change, Tension on the Laws of the Seas, Violation of Human Rights and difficulty of a timely aid to

the Refugees.
