CHAPTER I

PRELIMINARY

1.1 Background

Currently the concrete road is relatively widely used in the streets of the
capital as well as in areas that have high traffic density. A relatively large vehicle
loads and traffic is more dense the main reason for the selection of concrete roads.
Moreover, the structure more robust, durable and maintenance-free.
That is the basic reason why the concrete path has been chosen. In contrast to
the type of asphalt roads that require regular maintenance every year. When the
weather is uncertain as rain continues to happen today, if construction is not
planned properly asphalt will be easy to peel, perforated, and eroded by water.
However, conventional methods of operation which takes quite a long time,
thereby increasing the waiting time for road users to be able to use the new road,
which could lead to congestion along the project site.
Thus the need for innovation in the methods of implementation to be more
efficient. Flyslab a precast concrete products to be an alternative in order to
reduce the long construction time.

1.2 Formulation of Problem

• Planning rigid pavement thickness in accordance with the conditions of the

traffic and the planned design life.
• Design flyslab accordance with rigid pavement thickness and geometry
according to plan
• Method of implementation flyslab

1.3 Research Objectives

• Getting flyslab dimensions instead of cast in place concrete (cast in place)
•Improving the efficiency of rigid pavement construction so minimize traffic
jam.

1.4 Benefits Research

The expected benefits of this research is the efficiency of construction time to
minimize traffic jam as a result of rigid pavement work by utilizing precast
products flyslab.
