In my travels as a speaker and lecturer, farmers and ranchers,

agribusiness people, and agrilenders often inquire about
advanced educational opportunities that are challenging,
practical, and fit their business, family, and personal lives. Top
of mind is K-State’s Master of Agribusiness. It is a program of
academic rigor, excellent networking and interaction, with
periodic face-to-face sessions facilitated by leading experts.
Those I have recommended the program have had rave
reviews in their professional development.

I really liked the agribusiness aspect of the MAB – liked that it wasn’t straight business like an MBA. The
flexibility of the online courses worked great for me, but since we attended sessions on campus a couple of
times a year, I still felt engaged with my classmates and professors. It felt like I was “going to school” because
of the connections and friendships I made during the campus sessions.

MAB students develop a combination of analytical and problem-solving
skills to implement solutions to firm-level problems.
Information is presented so that students
integrate key concepts while immediately
applying what they have learned.
For the first two years, students come to
campus for one week in January or August
to begin new courses. They return for a
second week in March or October to take
finals and give presentations. The rest of the
year, courses are completely at a distance
via the internet, flash drives, podcasts, email
and live Blackboard Collaborate® recitation
sessions.

The MAB program is unlike any other program that I researched. It gives the flexibility of online
program with a solid commitment to face-to-face for two weeks each year. It offers a good
family/work/school life balance. I also wanted to study agribusiness rather than a traditional MBA
program, as the MAB provides the same value, but with a subject matter closer to my passion in
agriculture. The program has helped me to continue to learn and enhance my abilities.
