NACP IT department visits Clinton Foundation, New Delhi India

William Jefferson Clinton Foundation was


established in 2005 with the idea that
communities could work with global leaders
to effectively confront the world’s most
pressing problems. Clinton Foundation
during their visit to NACP in September
extended their support on number of fronts, including strengthening
NACP MIS system for treatment and care centers. Mr. Shahzad Arain
and Mr Habib Ullah Quadri on behalf of NACP visited New Delhi,
India from November 18-21, 2009. This visit was organized for
technical team for demonstration of software designed, system setup
both at the centre office and ART centres. This MIS will assist in the
monitoring & evaluation of Government health programs related to
treatment of HIV/AIDS.

As per agenda of the visit, on the first


day, accompanied by Mr Anirudh,
incharge M&E software of all ART
Centers, the team visited the centre
office where helpdesk was setup
located at National AIDS Control
Organization (NACO) followed by
tour of ART Center of Lok Nayak Jay Parkash (LNJP) Hospital
situated at Prya Ganj in Delhi.
During their visit at help desk, they were
briefed on the process of how the
queries are received at the helpdesk
from 220 ART centers across India and
also saw the running scenario of
helpdesk operations. The team
discussed the frequent problems faced
by the help desk staff in this process.

On Friday 20 November, Anirudh gave a detail demonstration of the


software developed for Pakistan. Certain Modification were also
made on the software after discussion and finalization with NACP
representatives. At this point the interest of integrating this software
to NACP HIMS/GIS system was also discussed.

They also had practical demonstration session on server


configuration and data aggregation, demo of installation and
management of software both at client and server ends.

Clinton foundation support for the pilot was also finalized. The
foundation will provide support to purchase for center server setup
and two ART centers setup as pilot.
A donation of amount 1 lakh PKR
for each ART center and 2 Lakh
PKR for Server side hardware were
promised. It was also emphasized
that all the necessary purchase and
system set up should be completed
by December 15th, 2009.

The final copy of the software will be send to Pakistan for test entry,
data analysis and report generation in 2 to 3 days after the team
returns. Pakistan is to inform any amendments required by December
10th. Foundation also proposed a master trainers training of software
in India at their office. The foundation requested that the same
technical team along with two doctors from ART centers should
participant in this training. The proposed date for the training is 15th
of December.
Clinton foundation showed great interest and extend its support with
commitment to assist NACP in their fight against HIV in Pakistan
