World renowned retail architect Davide Padoa of Design International and

local architect UPI2M, are proud to announce the opening of Arena Centar
Shopping Center in Zagreb, Croatia, on November the 4th, 2010.

The shopping mall has a total GLA of 62,000 sqm and completes a wider
masterplan including a sports arena for 15,000 visitors, which was opened in
2008. Arena Centar will play a major role in the economic development of
Zagreb, which is not only the political and economic capital of the Republic
of Croatia, but also a major transportation hub between Central Europe and
the Adriatic Sea.

The development is a regional shopping mall located in Novi Zagreb, a

residential expansion area of Zagreb north of the river Sava, with easy access
to central Zagreb as well as the surrounding areas.

In 2006, Hungarian based Trigranit Development Corporation, one of the

most prolific developers in Eastern Europe, appointed DI for the master
planning of the whole area, for the architecture and for the interior and
lighting design of the shopping mall. Design International was selected for
their global experience and creative expertise in the retail architecture world.
Trigranit, in conjunction with Design International, then appointed UPI2M as
the local architect and the designers of the façade and the sports arena.

Arena Centar consists of 2 levels of shopping area and a part 3rd level,
which is dedicated to entertainment. The interior concept takes inspiration
from the atmosphere, feel and traditions of the 5 areas of Croatia, namely
Istria, Lika & Gorski Kotar, Slavonia, Dalmatia and the city of Zagreb. The

result is an innovative interior design with a light and open atmosphere, in

which the visitors can orientate easily throughout the space, giving maximum
importance to shopfronts and retail operators. The mall boast many major
players in the retail industry, including Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti and
Sephora. The shopping mall, together with the outdoor area, creates the
central focal point for the local residents, which gives life to the expanding
surrounding area.

Arena Centar has excellent transportation access, both for cars and buses, and
the scheme was developed to accommodate a future tram connection, which
is planned by the city. Parking for 3000 cars is provided by 1 underground
parking level as well as a 3 level parking deck.

Davide Padoa, CEO of Design International, says of

Arena Centar: ‘I believe Arena Centar will become the
new heart of Zagreb. The development will massively
contribute to the economic dynamism of Zagreb, the
wider region and Croatia as a whole.’

Design International selected a young, dynamic and

creative team of Architects and Designer’s to work
on this vibrant shopping mall. Headed by Davide
Padoa, the team consisted of Lucio Guerra (Director
of Architecure), who worked on the initial concept, Daniela Ziglioli (Project
Leader), Ivana Divsic (Project Architect and Site Coordinator), Lousie Loo
(Head of Interior Design), Neil Skinner (Director of Lighting) and Christopher
