INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY GRANT PROPOSAL

Name of Applicant: Parker Martin

District/School: Elbert County High/Elbert County

Date: 4/24/18

Total Cost of Project: $877.30

Title of Project: Digtial Signage for Wellness

To what organization will you submit this grant application in the future?:

Elbert County Chamber of Commerce

I. Why is this project important?

Teacher and students need the ability to display images, demonstrations, workouts, and pertinent
information in order to allow for a successful and safe classroom experience. Through having the
ability to display all information necessary we give student the ability to stay at their stations, not
disrupting others inside of the weight room facility. This creates less movement and more emphasis on
safety through elimination of distraction. Through having digital signage giving the students the
information they need to complete their training at their station we also eliminate wasted time, as the
students understand and know the proper transitions that will be happening over the course day.
This contributes to the shared vision of instructional technology by allowing students to have an
interactive/cloud based demonstration and information tool available to them. This allows the instructor
to use a device in order to display mass material to a larger course, not having to stop the entire class in
order to do so. Students will benefit in that the instructor will be able to freely monitor the room and
give more specific feedback to each student.

II. What would you like to accomplish?

Students will properly learn how to manage and learn from digital signage technology demonstration.
Students will use interactive information and direction from being able to view the information
necessary to their lesson each day instead of having to stop class, and ask for numerous points of
information. Students will eliminate wasted time and become more effective in their practices as they
are able to work on their own and transition at a higher rate as well as a safer rate.

III. In what ways is this project an example of exemplary technology integration?

Through the SAMR model, this integration of digital signage into the weight training classroom does
a great job of substituting by giving students a presentation via cloud based software through having an
Ipad to display information on the televisions. It also covers augmentation through sharing mass
information with students via explain everything application which allows us to use an Ipad to share
information to the interactive whiteboard on the televisions in the classroom. Modification is covered
through being able to record audio and video to go along with text to cover the classroom content in a
movie like presentation every day to begin class, allowing for all students to practice and go along with
the presentation in order to create a safe environment. Redefinition is covered through being able to
give auditory feedback in real time to each group through the television signage at each station, while
continuing to work with other groups, eliminating the delay and stoppage of activity.

IV. How will you complete the work?

A. Describe how the instructional objectives/project outcomes will be met

1. Teacher demonstrates digital signage use and care

2. Teacher uses digital signage as a “hook” to engage students in strength and conditioning
curriculum.
3. Students use signage to explore, research, and expand their curiosity of strength and
conditioning.

B. Describe the time involved (project length including amount of time each day/week).

1. Length of project: All semester. Days per week required: 5 days per week
2. Days per week required: 5 days per week
3. Hours per day required: 1:30

C. Describe the people involved (grade level/subject & # of students, teachers and/or staff, other
stakeholders).
1. General Subject Area: 9-12 Physical Conditioning/Weight Training
2. # of Students: 30-40 per class period 4x daily
3. # of teachers/staff: 1 Teacher

IV. What is the timeline for assessing accomplishments and objectives/project outcomes (In 1-2
paragraphs, describe program evaluation procedure.)?

By the end of the semester, students should be able to properly handle feedback and
instruction from the digital signage devices that are present within the classroom environment.
They should also be able to use their knowledge to compare and contrast effective lifting
techniques, safety techniques, as well as displaying proper usage of time management. The
evaluation of this program will come through testing the students pre/post in order to determine
if their overall maximal lifts increased, as well as evaluation of video of technique, and decrease
in time that it takes to complete certain workouts or regimen requirements.

V. How will the students be impacted by the project ?

Students will be impacted by this project by increasing their knowledge of safety, efficient
technique, ability to lift increasing amounts, as well as in a timely manner. Through proper data
tracking with excel spreadsheets we will report to parents/students if their progress is on track with
expectations. This data will be shared with administration and other stakeholders in order to stress
the ongoing importance of technology and its integration into training in order to make for more
effective lessons overall.

VI. What is the proposed budget? Include information on the following:

A. Materials/supplies- None
B. Equipment - $877.30
