A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL BY-THE-
THE-SEA
RECOGNIZING MAY 20-
20-26, 2018 AS
NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK

WHEREAS, public works infrastructure, facilities and services are of vital


importance to the health, safety and well-being of the people of Carmel-by-the-
Sea; and

WHEREAS, public works facilities and services could not be provided without
the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, engineers, managers and
employees from State and local government, and the private sector, who plan,
design, build, operate, and maintain transportation and storm drain systems,
parks, public buildings, and other infrastructure and facilities essential to serve our
citizens in a cost-effective and environmentally sensitive manner; and

WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to understand the importance of public


works infrastructure and programs in their respective communities; and

WHEREAS, 2018 marks the 58th annual National Public Works Week
sponsored by the American Public Works Association, a professional association in
which the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea is a member.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED THAT I, Steve Dallas, Mayor of the City


of Carmel-by-the-Sea, on behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Carmel hereby
declare May 20-26, 2018 as PUBLIC WORKS WEEK.
