A SEMINAR REPORT FOR DAY TWO PRESENTED BY

THE FRENCH DEPARTMENT


The second day of the seminar started with a mass as usual. That mass was
celebrated by the vice principal of the school. There after, the participants were
distributed into their respective disciplines accompanied by the pedagogic
supervisor.

The French family constituted six teachers and the facilitator was Mr.Fomukong
Thomas, the national pedagogy inspector for bilingualism. The workshop
opened with a rundron gives by the facilitator who insisted on conveying the
program within the time given. The program consisted of the following items on
the agenda:

- Self introduction
- Examination and definition of few pedagogic concepts such as the bloom
taxonomy, approach, method, just to name a few in one hand, and the
interpration of the competence based approach (CBA)
- Preparation a lesson plan and a pedagogic program
- An applied exercise based on the criticism of some lesson plans and old
pedagogic approaches
- Types of evaluation and their roles
- The evaluation required by the CBA that is the formative evaluation
- How to set an evaluation
- Assignment
- AOB or divers
The facilitator elaborately explained the concepts of CBA
The OBA that is the objective based approach by giving how they function,
their aims, advantages and drawbacks at different levels. He reminded us
about the history of the CBA saying that Donald Kirkpatrick was the first
lecturer who used that approach. The main aim is to carry the student’s
knowledge from the classroom to its community, and from his community
to the global world. Also, the facilitator insisted on notions like
competence attendue, ressources, le savoir and le savoir- être and le
savoir-faire which he gave clear definitions.
During the peer group applied exercise, the emphasis was laid on the issue
of brainstorming, ice breaker and different stages of a good lesson plan.
The French workshop closed on an assignment on the formative evaluation
given by the facilitator who promised to be with us all along the 2016-2017
academic year , in season and out of season, and to sustain us in terms of
advises, pedagogic inspections and also promised to remain in touch.
