PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Math Rally is a half day event that allows all students, including year 5 & year 6
to experience math concepts. The purpose of the Math Rally is to have students
experience hands on activities within subject areas.
This project has 8 math stations set up in an area that allows for movement of
students from one station to another. The interactive stations include Kumon
Worksheet, Multiplication Table, Number Board, Happy Bean, Counting
Happy Bean, My Weight Measure, Water Liter & Hope Rope. Examples of
instructional objectives include mass, volume, scientific theories, critical thinking,
and team work using problem solving skills. This project can be used for in increasing
student interest in math effectively.

OVERALL VALUE
Hands on activities have been proven to increase comprehension and understanding.
Increases in test scores can be linked to the interest levels of students and skills
developed by this activity. These stations can be adapted by any elementary or
secondary schools simply by adjusting topics to any areas of need for that
curriculum. It will be an unforgettable day for all involved. The students will make
connections and build on knowledge gain throughout the year and in years
to come.
