Task # 03

Task Title:
To Write a Energy Data Book (2006-2016) For SAARC Energy Centre Islamabad

Prepared By: Engr Arshad Karim (MS Scholar)

Subject: Research Methodology and Technical Report Writing

Institute of Mechatronics Engineering, UET Peshawar

Goal: To Write an Energy Data Book (2006-2016) For SAARC Energy Centre Islamabad

Objectives:

The aim is to write the book in an organized pattern, in context to the previously
published Energy Data books by SAARC Energy Center. The Book must contain 200 Plus pages.
There must be a theory chapter that clearly explain the concepts used in the book for preparing
individual sheets. Book will contain total of 10 Years data starting from 2006 and ending at 2016.
The data in the book also need to be explained with the help of charts and figures where possible
or applicable.

 Write an Energy Data Book

 Should Contain 10 Years of Data (From 2006-2016)
 Should Contain 200 Plus Pages
 Should Contain Charts and Figures
 Book Should be in the pattern of Previously Published Saarc Energy Data Books

Tasks:

To achieve the objectives of this goal, tasks should be clearly specified, so that
they can be completed in timely manner. Details of tasks are given below.

 Study and understand Energy concepts used in the book

 Study and understand Previously available SAARC Energy Data books
 Analyze the data trends
 Conversion of Some Sheets (From Previously Available Energy Data Books)
 New Sheets Creation
 Comparison of New Sheets with the Previously Available Energy Data Books
Trends
 Presenting data with the help of Charts and Figures
 Creating New Data Book
 Rectifying the Issues highlighted by SAARC (If Any)

Results Expected:

The book finally will be reviewed by the SAARC Energy Team comprising of
different levels of experts. The book is expected to give following outcomes:

 The SAARC Energy Center Islamabad will finally publish the book, internationally
and it will remains as the property of SAARC.
 Provide useful information regarding energy and its related field that can help
different departments. Since this book contains the data of about 08 Countries, so
the book will be helpful to all of the Eight countries departments related to the
energy.

Evaluation Parameters:

 Since the book contains in huge amount therefore, It needs to be evaluated both
on quantitative and qualitative grounds. The detail perspective of each is explained
below.
 Quantitative
Following parameters may be kept under consideration while evaluating this
document quantitatively.
o Numbers of sheets
 Number of Sheets can be verified.
o Number of Data cells filled in Each Sheet, (Max. Number of Cells should be
filled).
 Since each sheet contains a number of cells and our aim is to fill as much
cells as possible, so the number of filled cells can be counted and verified.
 Qualitative
o Presentation of Data
 The data needs to be in an organized manner, such that a meaningful
result can be obtained from the Data.
o Status of Data Source whether Reliable/authentic or Not
 Data from different sheets and different sections will be compared with
the Data Source. In addition, the Data Source Status should be checked.
o Any Irrelevant Data/Sheet
 Finally, the data relevancy is also checked and verified.

Type of Research:

 Inductive Research (Reasoning)

o Since it begins with the specific data/quantities and at the end we are
having a very generalize/broad form of data. So we call this as Inductive
research (Reasoning).
