Precautions

Precautions
Before you perform any service and/or repair on notebook, please
follow the steps below first.
1.Be sure that the notebook is powered down.
2.Disconnect the AC plug from the notebook

3.Turn the notebook over. Unlock and hold the latches, and remove the battery.

4.Remove all rings, watches and any other metal objects from your hands.

Phillips-head Screwdriver
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to fasten/remove the K- or B-typed screws.

Single-Slotted Screwdriver
Use a single-slotted screwdriver to lock/unlock the flexible cable connector locks

Disassembly Procedure

Disassembly Procedure
Please follow the information provided in this section to perform the complete
disassembly procedure of the notebook. Be sure to use proper tools described before.

ASUS Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedures for the
complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed
disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your service needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

Battery Module
1. Remove 4 rubber feet on the bottom case and remove 4 screws
under the rubber feet.

2. Push the bottom case and take away the bottom case.

3. Remove 3 screws on the battery and take away the battery.

Memory Module
1. Pull two latches here to pop the Memory module up at 45 degrees
angles, and then pull out the module at that angle.

1. Remove 4 screws on each HDD. Lift it up the HDD and take them
away.

2. Remove 4 screws to separate HDD from HDD housing.

Keyboard Module
1. Remove 10 screws on the bottom case frame which securing the
KB. Turn off the device and pry the hinge cover to remove it.

3. Remove the four screws on the keyboard and take over the
keyboard plate.

4. Disconnect the keyboard FPC, LED FPC, Touchpad FPC and

Disassemble the keyboard module
1. Remove 4 screws on both touchpad. Then release the touchpad
FPC and turn over the keyboard plate to take away the both
touchpad.

1. Remove 17 screws on the bottom case frame. Disconnect the
WLAN antenna from the guide hook.

away the frame case.

1. Remove 8 screws on a CPU module and disconnect the fan cable.
Then take the thermal module away.

2. Using the flat head screw driver to release the CPU socket and
then remove CPU by vacuum handling tool.

1. Remove 2 screws on the WLAN and pull out the WLAN from its
slot.

2. Disconnect the antenna from the TV Tuner card. Remove 2
screws and pull out the card.

Top Case Module
1. Assemble the LED board and Bluetooth board to the correct
location.

2. Install the Top case with LCD module. Arrange LVDS cable and
antenna in the guide hooks/

3. Then secure 2 screws on each LCD hinge.

1. Assemble the card reader board and the converter card.

2. Install the card reader board in the top case and secure 4 screws
on them.

1. Insert the TV Tuner in the motherboard and secure 2 screws on
the TV Tuner. Then connect the antenna.

1. Insert CPU in the CPU socket and secure the CPU.

2. Assemble the thermal module on the motherboard and secure 8
screws to fix it. Then connect the fan cable.

1. Assemble the ODD and secure 2 screws.

2. Assemble the bottom frame and secure 17 screws on the frame.
Then arrange the WLAN antenna and connect the Bluetooth cable
and CMOS cable.

1. Assemble the both touchpad with the keyboard plate. Then paste
to fix the touchpad FPC.

2. Turn over the keyboard plate and secure 8 screws.

Touchpad FPC and keyboard FPC.

4. Turn over the keyboard plate and install the keyboard. Secure 4
screws on the keyboard.

5. Install the hinge cover and turn over the device. Secure 10 screws
on the bottom case frame to fix the keyboard.

1. Assemble the HDD and secure 4 screws.

1. Insert memory at the same 45 angles and press down until it
clicks into the latches.
