Developmental Level: Schoolage (Industry vs Inferiority)

Consider Use of visual (Pictures/Items), auditory (Lecture) and tactile (objects and bandaid
activity) measures for different types of learners.

Importance of First Aid and Safety for helping with prevention and care of common
household injuries.
 First Aid (Wong’s, Taylor and Brady)
o Cuts/scrapes (use bandaid-avoid drying, use of 3x antib)
o Burns (use of 3x antib, cool h2o)
o Poisoning (call poison control)
o Infection (use of 3x antib, wash hands, wash initial wound)
 Ways to help heal your body/prevent infection
o Wash hands
o Keep wound clean
o Eat well (Proper Nutrition)
 Vit. A,B,C,D and Protein important

 When self care is appropriate and when it’s appropriate to get help
 How to get help

Bandaids, 3x Antibiotic ointment, alcohol prep pads

What are some things we can do to avoid getting burns?
What number do you call if you or someone you know eats/drinks something poisonous?
What are some things you can do to avoid infection?

Goals/Outcomes: Learners will verbalize proper hand sanitizing methods. Learners will
verbalize knowledge of appropriate methods to contact poison control. Learners will
commit to obtaining other important phone numbers and placing emergency phone # list in
a visible are of the house.
