Hosted jointly by Departments of Anesthesia/Pain Medicine and Palliative Care; Partnered
with Dr. Michael Gofeld (anesthesiology, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre) to deliver
two Grand Rounds presentations (one for each Department) entitled “Interventional Cancer
Pain Management Program: A Model for Interprofessional Collaboration”. Over 250
attendees were present for the Department of Anesthesia/Pain Medicine lecture and over
90 attendees were present for the Department of Palliative Care lecture (all clinical,
academic and administrative staff were represented). Between the presentations, our time
was spent meeting with the leadership of each Department and we explored in greater
detail the critical success factors in establishing and maintaining our palliative
care/anesthesia collaboration
