The Department of Communica-

tion offers courses in theory, phi-
losophy, analytics and research

46 credit hours in their respective

Fairly new to the university, the Departmnet of Communication
was orginially derivded from the Department of Theater. After
recruiting their first five staff members they achieved stand
alone status in 1980. Since then the department has grown to
include a M.A. prgram in 2003, 692 students, three majors, a
minor, a concentration and a state of the art Media Facility
that was developed in 2013. The Departments mission is to de-
velop and enhance the understanding of the process
of communication and their effects on individuals, organiza-
tions, culture and society through discovery, learning and engage-
ment which focuses on creation, distribution and interpretation
of messages through media systems.
