WORK METHODOLOGY FOR  REINFORCEMENT WORKS

Objective – The objective of this method statement is to describe in detail all the 
operation concerned with the Logix Blossom County Project. 

Scope of work – As per B.O.Q. Item number 4.03 & 4.04 to execute 6000 cum and
11500 Sqm (approx.) ACC block masonry works at all levels.

Resources used
1. Materials: Cement, Sand, flyash and Water

2. Machinery and Tools: Measuring box, mortar mixer, Curing pipes etc

3. Manpower :  Engineer, Supervisors/Foremen, Mason Gang and Unskilled
workers

WORK METHODOLOGY
1.  The jointing mortar shall be leaner like 1:6. the mortar shall not be spread so
much ahead of the  actual laying of  the  unit that it tends  to stiffen and lose  it's
plasticity there by resulting poor bond.
2.  Consistency of cement mortar as per requirement of site must be maintained at
the time of laying. 
3.  After obtaining the  approval  of the  same  and when  the  preparatory works of
concreting viz., shuttering and reinforcement are ready, checked and approved for
casting by client’s representative, concrete mixing will be done in batching plant in
accordance to pre – approved design mix.
4. Control of concrete quality is done both at batching plant and at pouring
points. Checking for workability, preparation of concrete cubes and testing
of cubes is as per manual/reports submitted and got approved / as per

contract requirements.
5.   The concrete thus manufactured in batching plant is conveyed to site of
placing by transit mixers.
6. Placing of Concrete:
a)  In Foundation Raft  : Concrete pump, Boom placer, Gravity chute and
Direct pumping from Batching plant are the alternate modes proposed
to   be   adopted   based   upon   the   practical   situation,   location   and
accessibility   and   with   approval   by   client.   Except   for   the   method   of
direct   pumping,   for   all   other   methods   transit   mixers   convey   the
concrete   and   transfers   to   the   mode   adopted   for   concreting.   If   for
various reasons, construction joint is required to be provided then the
proposal of the same for positions and details in schematic sketch is
submitted  to the  client for  approval. After  obtaining approval  of  the
same,   necessary   steps   are   taken   to   provide   construction   joints   with
approved material and casting is done continuously upto the joint. A
system of staging and gangways is done for laying pipe and movement
of workmen/ staff.
b)  In   columns   and   walls :  Columns   and   walls   are   casted   upto   the
approved height in single lift with pump and pipelines, boom placer,
with   tower   crane   bucket   or   manually   as   agreed   by   client.   Necessary
staging for support of distributor manifold in case of pumping will be
provided. Expansion joints will be provided as shown in drawings and
as   per   details   given.   A   system   of   staging   and   gangways   is   done   for
laying pipe and movement of workmen/ staff.
c)  In   Slab   and   Beams :  Concrete   will   be   placed   using   either   concrete
pump, Boom placer, tower crane bucket or by direct pumping as per the

ground situation and with approval by client. The method of provision
of construction joint if needed, is as explained above and the casting is 

done at single stretch up to the approved construction joint if approved or the slab is
cast at once.
7. Simultaneously,  with  the  placing  of   concrete,  compaction  is  done  using
high frequency vibrator needles for sufficient period and the extraction of
the same will slow and carefully done so that no loose pockets are formed. 
8. After the casting and removal of formwork , the curing is done for the type
of structures as follows:
9. Raft foundation: By ponding in segments on top and by using wet jute on
vertical sides for adequate time.
10. Isolated Foundations: By spraying water or using wet jute.
11. For Columns and Beams: By spraying water using curing pumps and by
using wet jute.
12. For Slab and Beams: By ponding in segments.

SAFETY MEASURES:
1. Provisions for workmen: All persons working at the site shall be provided with
the safety equipments, protection means such as hand gloves, safety helmets
and other necessary kinds.
2. Provisions for Equipment, Machine: 
a) All   equipment   will   be   ensured   to   operate   safely,   maintained   and
repaired periodically.
b) All power equipment should be insulated and covered to all exposed
live parts.

c) A competent person shall inspect equipment during shift duty.           
3. Provisions for Job Site:
a) Relevant Caution boards and sufficient lighting system shall be installed
at the working area to ensure safety for construction activities at night
time.
b) The working area shall be free from hazards before starting the work.
c) Unnecessary   materials   such   as   empty   bags   and   rubbish   shall   be
removed periodically.
