IV. The Work Immersion Company

a. History

1950
-Dr. Yanga's colleges Inc. (DYCI) started as a non-sectarian secondary institution. it was
established in 1950 as the Francisco Balagtas Academy (FBA) by the former owners, the
late Gerardo Samson, Sr.

1974
-in January 1974, the Yanga family purchased the FBA from its owners and Dr. Ismael E.
Yanga, Sr. became its first president.

1976
-In June 7,1976, the institution was granted
-The secondary institution expanded to include tertiary courses. The initial course
offered were Midwifery, Secretarial Education, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine,
Agriculture, Commerce, Nursing, Seaman Training Course and Vocational Courses.

1987
-The name of institution was changed to Dr. Yanga's Francisco Balagtas Colleges
(DYFBC).

1993
-Dr. Marciano D. Yanga was installed as the second president of the school in an
investiture ceremony held on August 12, 1993.

2001
-The institution name was changed again and became Dr. Yanga's Colleges, Inc.

2004
-The government recognition was issued for the institution to open Grade School
Department.

2008
-In a re-certification report, DYCI High School maintained its "Above Standard" Status
given by the Fund for Assistance in Private Education (FAPE)

2010
-The DYCI High School Robotics Team bagged its first World Champion title for the
World Robot Olympiad.

-To date, DYCI Primed has 7 National Titles (5 PRO and 2 FLL) and 2 World Titles under
their belt.

2012
-DCYI was declared as a center for Robotics Excellence by Ms. Mylene Abiva, president
and CEO of Felta Multimedia
-DYCI High School was one of the Top Performing Private Schools for the 2013 National
Achievement Test (NAT) with 487 takers, the biggest number of examiners among all
private schools in Bulacan.

2013
-After many years of changing lives, DYCI was awarded as the 2012 Most Transformative
School by the ABS-CBN Bayan Academy during the 2nd excellence in Educational
Transformation Awards (EETA)

2002
•The school started They offer Pre-Elementary and Elementary Education.
•First Planning of the DYCI High School Faculty at Angel's Hills, Tagaytay City where the
motto "More Than a School, a family"

2003
•The word "DYCIan" was coined by Prof. Michael S. Yanga, then Managing Director and
Principal of the High School Department to identify students of DYCI.
•"SAGIP-ARAL" was introduced to allow DYCIans help their fellow DYCIans continue
their education.
•The first God-Centered week was celebrated, without a theme.

2004
•The Basic Education Department began active involvement in church activities of the
St. Martin of Tours Parish in Bocaue.
•A memorandum of Agreement was ratified for the implementation of the feeding
program for Grades 1-3 and computer literacy Program for Grades 5-6 Students of Cong.
Erasmo R. Cruz Memorial Central School, Bocaue, Bulacan.
•DYCI High School presents "Value of the week" program to deepen the understanding
of every DYCIan to the values it promotes through the name of its sections.
•Charitable institution were included as first itinerary of the High School for Educational
Tours.
•Gift-giving project for adopted families became part of the holiday celebration of every
section.

2005

•DYCI unveils new building to cater the growing population of the High School
Department- The High School Building 2.

•The Grade School Department launched its "DYCIan Cares" program as its outreach
activity.
•DYCI High School released its first student-published newsletter, The DYCIan.
•"Social Issues of the Week" was launched to update every DYCIan with the relevant
issues in the society and the world.
•A project handled by the Araling Panlipunan Department.
•First DYCIan Youth Camp was celebrated that serves as a culminating activity for the
2nd Grading Period.
•DYCI Grade School Department celebrated its first God-Centered Week.

2006
•In partnership with the St. Martin of Tours, DYCI High School participates in the
Catechism Teaching. DYCI was assigned to teach students from Cong. Erasmo R. Cruz
Memorial Central School.
•The High School joined the National Youth Congress in Baguio City for impromptu
Speaking Competition and won 2nd Place.

2008
•In a re-certification report DYCI High School maintained its "Above Standard" status
given by the Fund for Assistance in Private Education (FAPE)
•"The DYCIan Live", a 10-minutes televised program with various segments was
launched as part of program innovations of the High School Department.
•The "English Speaking Campaign" was launched to prepare DYCIans to the global
setting.
•DYCI incorporated in its curriculum the "Learning Physics as one Nation" framework
from the Central Visayan Institute Foundation (CVIF) in Jagna, Bohol.
•DYCI High School Robotics team joined for the first time the Philippine Robotic
Olympiad - Open Category and 4th Place.

2009
•DYCI in partnership with the parish of St. Martin of Tours celebrates "Simbang Gabi”
within DYCI campus.
•The Bulacan Private Schools Association (BULPRISA) recognized and awarded Prof.
Michael S. Yanga as the "2009 Most Outstanding Administrator"
•The DYCI Primes, the official robotics team of the High School Department bagged it
first national title in the Philippine Robotics Olympiad.
•DYCI for the first time made it to the international arena as official representative of
the Philippine to the World Robot Olympiad in Pohang, South Korea.

2010
•Dr. Yanga's Colleges, Inc. as an institution marked its 60th Founding Anniversary.

•A benchmark visit was conducted by the Basic Education Department to Singapore's
Bendemeer Secondary School.

•Reading Campaign was introduced in partnership with the Scholastic Philippines.


•DYCI bagged its first world title through robotics at the 10th World Robot Olympiad
held in Manila, Philippines.
2011
•DYCI joined "Tagisang Robotics", a competition organized by the Department of
Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI).
•The High School Department was able to reach the national level of Press Conference
Feature Writing and Radio Broadcasting categories held in Butuan City, Agusan del
Norte.
•DYCI High School joined the 1st National Youth Leadership and Talent Fair by the
Association of the Philippine Private School Administrators and Mentors(APPSAM) and
won 2 gold medals for Talumpati and Debate Categories.
•DYCI Grade School joined for the first time the Philippine Robotics Olympiad and made
it to the World Robot Olympiad in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
•DYCI visited Singapore's Bendemeer Secondary School again for a benchmark visit.

2012
•DYCI was declared as a Center for Robotics Excellence by Mylene Abiva, national
organizer of the Philippine Robotics Olympiad and President and CEO of Felta.
•DYCI became the first officially-declared Philippine Robotics Academy campus in the
country.
•"DYCI Blue Ocean 10" was formed to compete for the first time in the 1sr First Lego
League Philippines.
•DYCI Blue Ocean 10 made it to the FIRST Lego League World Festival in St. Louis,
Missouri, USA and won 3rd Place-project Presentation Award.
•The DYCI Primes bagged its second world title at the 12th World Robot Olympiad held
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

2013
•ABS-CBN Bayan Academy awarded DYCI as the 2012 Most Transformative School for
Learning Effectiveness and School Efficiency during the 2nd Excellence in Educational
Transformation Awards (EETA)
•DYCI High School was one of the Top Performing Private Schools for the 2013 National
Achievement Test(NAT)
•DYCI made it for the first time to the "Palarong Pambansa" for the taekwondo event.
•The Grade School Department incorporated Robotics program from Grade 4-6 classes.
• First ever Ahon-Noah Fun Run project was conduced to help typhoon Yolanda
Victims.
•The DYCI Blue Ocean 10 made it for the first time to the FIRST Lego League Asia-Pacific
Invitational Robotics Competition in McQuarrie University, Sydney, Australia and won
People's Choice Award and Judges' Choice Award.

•10th year celebration of the God Centered Week with the theme "10kful" and DYCIan
Youth Camp with the theme "Segullah: Apple of God's Eye".

2014
•A remarkable 1-2 finish for the DYCI blue ocean 10 and ubuntu imagineers at the first
Lego league Philippines.
•DYCI visited national Taiwan university for a bench mark visit and robotics training.
•DYCI High School join for the first time the Philippine sudoku super challenge
•The DYCI taekwondo team made it to the 8th world taekwondo culture expo and
bagged 4 gold medals.
•1st implementation of the Saturday school for the youth of St. martin of tours parish.

2015
•The High school department was adjudged as national champion for the scholastic
readers cap.
•Robotics training at the national Taiwan university was attended by robotics coaches.
•Benchmark visit and exchange program at the samroiyod wittayakom school in
Thailand.

2016
•1st Thai Filipino language cultural exchange program between samroiyod wittayakom
school from Thailand and Dr. Yanga’s basic education transpired.
•Grades school robotics laboratory was built, and we do Lego training for grade 1
DYCIan was implemented.
•Singaporean math was adopted by the grade school department for grades 4-6.
•The basic education in partnership with Microsoft Philippines was implemented
Microsoft office specialist examination from grade 6-10.
•DYCI visited bangbuathong school in Thailand for a benchmark visit.
•recognition was granted to offer grade 11 senior high school at the k-12 curriculum.
•DYCI unveils its new senior high school building.
•Back to back champion at the scholastic readers cup.
•Awarded as outstanding school base values education program by the Pambansang
Samahan Para sa Edukasyon sa Pagpapahalaga.
•The grade school drum and lyre was formed.

2017
•Another international partner school, bangbuathong school in Thailand visited DYCI for
the exchange program.
•Full implementation of the k-12 curriculum.
•DYCI unveils new campus of binang 2nd. Bocaue, Bulacan with the newly build pre-
school and grade school buildings.

Philippines.

c. Nature of The Business

High School Scholarship Program

Honor students shall be recognized through the following scholarship grants:

Valedictorian – 100% scholarship on tuition and miscellaneous fees


Salutatorian – 50% scholarship on tuition and miscellaneous fees

Students who graduated from the DYCI Elementary Department shall enjoy a
20% discount on their tuition fee every school year.

Incentives for parents who have a number of children studying at DYCI:


2 Children – 10% discount on tuition fee of the younger sibling
3 Children – 15% discount on tuition fee of the youngest sibling and 10% on the
younger sibling
4 Children – 50% discount on tuition fee of the youngest sibling
5 children or more – 100% discount on tuition fee of the youngest sibling

Students whose parents graduated from DYCI may avail either of the following:
both parents – 10% discount on tuition fee of one of the children
one parent – 5% discount on tuition fee of one of the children

d. Description of the product/Services

The Center for Research, Media, and Publications is a potent support office of
the Dr. Yanga’s Colleges, Inc. In crafting and operationalizing empirically-tested
coping mechanisms to address the demands of curricular societal changes
through a dynamic and functional research programs. This center is also tasked
to spearhead the pooling of vital information into meaningful and arresting
media forms for internal and external dissemination.

 To keep the receipt as always and settle the payment before or on the day of
exam so you could have the permit to take the exam.
 Go to school on time and be courteous as always.

V. Narratives

a. Management Process

1. Narratives on the business processed of the company/establishment

In attending the work immersion, I feel mixed emotions. It’s fun, tiring but it’s all
worth it because I learned so many things. With the help of my coordinators, I am
able to finish my task. Our coordinators in our work place are very generous. They
never let us hassle on time. They are very concern that we could finish our task on
time and enjoy it. You have to focus on your task in order for you to be able to do it
properly. There are so many things that the coordinators are assigned to do, but
they never let us feel that we are unwelcome.

Filing and sorting of documents.

Checking of petty cash fund voucher.

Day 3
Distributing books and statement of accounts.

Making envelopes and staple the receipt of 13th month pay of the employees.

B. Skills Learned and Values Acquired

1. Skills Acquired in the company.

In attending the workplace, you have to be polite, corteous and honest as always in
order for you to be treated right as well. You also need to follow the rules and
regulations for you to finish the assigned task on time.

2. Challenges faced over the duration of work immersion.

•Day 1 (November 21, 2017)


While filing the documents there's a hindrance that felt because I don't get it at first. But
I practice until I got it. I am happy because my co-workmates and coordinators help me
finish my task.

•Day 2 (November 28, 2017)


While checking the petty cashier fund voucher, I felt nervous and dtutter because I am
really afraid to failed. It feels like the coorinators will get mad mad at me once I commit
mistake.

•Day 3 (December 05, 2017)


I felt nothing, because I know now how to do my tasks and I know to to communicate
with other students in a polite manner.

•Day 4 (December 12, 2017)


In doing this task, you have to be patient because making envelopes is not the easy
thing to do. You have to a lot an ample time for you to finish it properly. I have
encounter some trouble in doing this task because it is too sticky.

•Day 5 (December 19, 2017)


Nothing because I know how to do my tasks and it’s easy to do and after that they didn't
give me a task after that.

•Day 6 (January 09, 2018)


When they give me a task that I’m not familiar with, but they teach me how to do it.

When they give me the task, I feel like I have to prepare my patience, specially to the
impolite students the moment I give them the statement of accounts

While doing the filing and sorting of documents, I am too stressed because I am not
familiar with this task.

Day 10 (
While completing the requirements, I felt bad because there are so many things to do
and I don’t have enough time to finish it. I have to a lot an ample time for me to do this.

3. How challenges are resolved.

•Day 1
I ask my immersion coordinator again so that I get it clearly and so that I can do my task
well.

•Day 2
I remind myself that I should be calm and be confident so that I can do it again next time
without being nervous and stutter.

•Day 3
nothing. Because I already know how to do the task.

•Day 4
I ask my immersion coordinator how to do it so that I can do it well.

•Day 5
nothing challenged resolved because there’s no hindrances in my task while doing it.

•Day 6
they teach me how to do it so that my task will be done.

4. Values acquired in meeting the challenges.

•Day 1
I learn that in my first day is filing a document and it’s easy to do and I learned also that I
should be coordinate with the people at my work and offers each other help.

I learned that in answering a telephone calls even if you feel nervous shy because it’s
your first time you must conquer it and, I learn that even when you're doing something
or when you're done at your work you can volunteer or ask if you can do it.

•Day 3
I learn that I should more motivate myself in doing my tasks and don't be a lazy at work.

•Day 4
I learn that don't be afraid to ask something that you didn't know how to do because
you need to know about it so that the next time they give that task again you know how
to do it.

•Day 5
I learn how to sort the receipts but after that our immersion coordinator didn't give us a
task because they said that they just give us a task on our next immersion.

•Day 6
I learn how to put debit and credit in com its hard and I felt nervous and shaking that
time because there's a many what if's in my mind like "what if I write something
wrong?" "what if it’s wrong" but I learn that don't be afraid to learn something new and
just be calm so that your work will job well done.

I learn how to communicate with other student courteously while distributing the
statement of accounts.

Day 8
While giving the statement of accounts to the guidance, I felt nervous because you have
to greet the people inside there. They might get mad at you once you disturb them.

Day 9
I learn how to solve the statement of accounts of Metrobank. It is not easy but I enjoyed
it because I learn something new from it.

Day 10
On the last day, there is no assigned task to do so I just complete all the requirements to
be pass.

In my work immersion site, I learn so many things. I learn how to sort files, encode,
balance statement of accounts, distributing statements, stamping and more. But one
thing that touches my heart is that I have very generous coordinators and very
supportive workmates. They never let me fail this subject. They stayed until the last.
Even on my last immersion, they come with me even if they already finish their duty. I
am very grateful to experience this kind of work immersion. I learned so many things
that I can apply in my own life once I have my own job.
