Professional Development Hours

TOTAL PARTICIPATION OF ACTIVITY

DATE Time
11/14/17 2 hours PLC This was an interesting and extremely helpful meeting! During this
meeting the teachers played ‘Heads Up’, but instead of cards they were
demonstrating parent behaviors. Ex. Card: rolling eyes, crossed arms. The
teacher had to guess the behavior the parents were demonstrating and
respond in a positive manner. Parents are a vital part of education, so it is very
important to know how to deal with parents in a positive, effective manner.

2/5/18 2 hours

PLC upcoming events were discussed at this meeting.

One event that was that Mrs.Smith was taking few students grades 3-5 to
complete a presentation at the board office. During their presentation the
students would share how the standards relate across the grade levels. Levy
money and field trips were also discussed. The PALS test was also discussed
during this meeting.
3/21/18 1 hour CAEP I really enjoyed this training! Listening to positive and negative
conversations between teachers and parents was an eye opener. It allowed
me to see what works and what doesn’t, and then practice. As an educator I
will experience parents very often and it is important to know how to address

different situations.
2/22/18 1 hour

Professional Ethics-
Professional ethics is important in the classroom. Mr. Mullins did a wonderful
job explaining the do’s and don’ts in the classroom. It is important to always
be professional in and out of the classroom.
2/22/18 2 hour

Universal Design of
Learning- Mrs. Banks had a great presentation today! Instruction has changed
so much over the years. I think it is important to deliver instruction in a variety
of ways because no two students are the same and they all learn different.
Learning how to address different learning types in the classroom will be vital t
know when I become an educator.
2/28/18 1 hour Inclusion- I thought this webinar was really informational! Inclusion classes are
becoming more common in classrooms across the United States. Some
students are able to function and be involved in regular education classes, but
may need extra guidance. As a professional teacher I am sure I will experience
inclusion classes, so this was very beneficial.
3/5/18 1 hour Field Trip- This was an interesting and useful video! Field trips are something I
will experience later on down the road. Knowing how to select and prepare for
field trips is very important. Knowing important things to pack, like materials
to deepen learning, is something I probably wouldn’t have thought of that.
Choosing what students are interested in is extremely important when
selected a field trip. Erin provided a lot of information that I thought was very
beneficial.
3/6/18 1 hour Test Prep- Testing is an important part of assessing students. Testing can be a
stressful time for students and teachers, so having the necessary materials and
knowledge is important for everyone. This video provided insight on how to
successfully prepare yourself and students for testing.
3/12/18 1 hour Data Reports- Data reports allows the teacher to assess students and work to
improve their engagement and skills. Reading is the foundation of all learning
and is extremely important. This video allowed me to learn necessary skills to
improve student engagement, which will be very important to know as a
teacher. Data reports will be simple task that I can complete to assess,
monitor, and improve.
3/12/18 1 hour Reading Growth- Six minutes doesn’t seem like much, but it can be very
beneficial. Daily reading is vital to develop student’s reading skills. This video
was helpful in teaching me, the educator, necessary tools and knowledge I can
use to provide my future students with to benefit and support their reading
growth.
