Interview Questions

Psychotherapist – Hester Bancroft

1. As a professional, not as a member of society, do you believe mental health is a
growing issue?
2. Do you believe every client you have come across is truthful on this topic?
3. From a scientific point of view, do you think medication can help or completely
worsen the problem?
Self-esteem and Confidence Therapy & Coaching – Romi Carr
1. Do you believe your methods work scientifically or is it more of a mental coping
mechanism?
2. As an expert on mental health, not as a mother or a member of society, do you
believe that this is a growing issue in young people or is it just something to blame
instead of accepting it is our faults?
3. Do you agree that instead of taking pills and medication, young people can use this
form of meditation to calm themselves down?
Friend – Sam Boxall
1. Do you agree that mental health in youth is a growing problem or are our peers
using it to cover up the fact that they have caused these problems ourselves?
2. From your experience do you believe that prescription drugs help or just make the
problems worse?
3. What would you suggest to someone our age facing problems?
Personal view – Myself
1. As a young person, can you see this problem growing around you and what do you
think is causing this?
2. From personal experience what has helped and what would you suggest to someone
going through a difficult time?
3. Are we as young people simply using the term ‘mentally ill’ as an excuse or for
attention?
CEO of Grits – Neil Wragg MBE
1. Not including your charity, do you believe there is enough help out there for young
people feeling the pressure and weight of mental health issues?
2. Are the government giving enough funding to charities, around the nation, or are
they spending the money on other irrelevant issues?
3. On a personal level, what would you tell a young person to do, as to help themselves
to get through this tough time?
General questions
Name?
What profession are you in and what experience do you have?
Do you think you would be able to help someone struggling with problems?
What do you believe is causing the rise in this problem?
Statistically, how many teenagers do you think suffer from mental health issues? SAY REAL
ANSWER – Do you believe this is true or are a lot of young people lying?

Is this a growing problem or is it simply used as an excuse?

If you could change one thing about the young generation that would maybe eradicate this
problem, what would it be?
Has it got to the point where youths believe they are mentally ill – without being diagnosed
and is this a problem that needs to be highlighted?
Has the term ‘mentally ill’ become so overly used that it lacks any sense of sincerity
anymore?

Contingency Plan

Location: Each location I have chosen in which I will conduct the interviews are
completely relevant to each individual job that the interviewee does.
Fortunately, although the locations I have at the moment are perfect for the
interviews, I have found back-up places in which I can film. For example, the
interview with Hester Bancroft will hopefully be filmed in her office at her
house but if this suddenly becomes unavailable then there are offices available
to be rented, hourly, near to where I live.

Equipment: I already have 2 cameras on hand, not only to get different angles
but also in case one of them breaks or stops working. The microphone is not
completely necessary as my cameras pick up good sound already so I don’t
really need it but it will still be useful to gain a better grade. Again, the tripod is
not completely necessary to my production as I could balance the cameras on
books or other objects but it will make it easier for my interviews to get under-
way, instead of messing about with props.
Interviewees: From the confirmation emails above, you can see that I have
created allotted times with all the interviewees in which the filming process
will happen. If at any point a interviewee is unable to make the appointment
then it will not be a problem as we have 2 weeks holiday in which I can rebook
any missed meetings. I have already experienced one cancellation but it was
resolved within that day and the interview will be conducting later on this
week (Friday 20th April).

Crew: The only crew member involved in this whole production is myself,
therefore eliminating any chance of having to rely on other people and I know
then, any mistakes that are made are solely my fault and therefore should be
able to learn and resurrect what had happened.

Transport: Instead of relying on other people, like my last productions, I made

sure that I passed my driving test prior to the start of the filming process in this
project. Therefore, again, I have my own transport and I am able to get myself
from A to B easily, without asking anyone else for help.

Lighting: Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to hire out any reflective sheets
from college but if any problems occur due to lighting issues then I have made
sure I have available free time in which I will be able to conduct these
interviews again at a different time.

All interviewees have also informed me that they are completely available for a
reshoot, should it be necessary, they all believe that this issue I have decided
to look into is completely worth their time and effort as well as mine. They
believe it could, if used wisely, create a positive contribution to society.
