Continuation of Thesis

Intended Genre of Thesis:

Revised Version as of January 2018

The intended genre of my thesis is under mixed media and installation, with inquiries about travel,
dislocation, displacement and identity that emphasize the role of space, materials, design, meaning and
their application in the context of community, culture, economy and politics.

This will be implemented as a community-based art project/initiative depending on the major and specific
concerns listed below as well as suggestions acquired during the thesis proposal stage and thesis proper.

Major concern:

The target major focus or concern of my thesis shall give critical perspective to the meanings of travel,
spaces, use of materials, design and its installation in selected places and/or communities. The creative
output will interrogate and utilize indigenous expressions, traditional and contemporary tools/materials
while collecting critical responses from its target audience based on culture, context, tradition, politics of
space and communication, as well as how the temporal or ephemeral nature of disasters influences the
process and techniques used in information design.

Specific Concern:

My thesis will specifically put into consideration an issue based approach on the plight of communities in
their journey due to displacement and dislocation based on concerns about the environment, politics,
economy and culture.

These concerns will explore the many ways in which notions of voluntary and forced migrations of
people are traced, located and negotiated.

Proposed Timetable for the Thesis:

Year 3, 2nd Semester : Thesis proposal will be presented and finished.

Year 4, 1st Semester: Start of thesis proper ( Research, Art Production etc.)
Year 4, 2nd Semester: Completion of thesis / presentation of MFA Degree Show
