ABSTRACT

TALAMAN, KRIZZA SANGCAP. DEVELOPMENT OF SUPPLEMENTAL

ACTIVITY- BASED WORLD HISTORY MODULE. Unpublished Master’s Thesis.
Sacred Heart College, Lucena City, November 2017 (Dr. Leonora Y. Paleracio, Thesis
Adviser).

The effectiveness of teaching Araling Panlipunan has always been a challenge due

to the continuous changing world. In the education system, the demand for teaching

competencies is greater than ever. This demand call for innovative action by every teacher.

This study basically dealt with developing a Supplemental Activity- based World History

Module based on the existing World History Module. It sought answers to the following:

(1) the activities found in the existing module in World History that are least and not

effective; (2) the reasons for the activities in the existing World History Module to be found

least effective and not effective; (3) An Activity-based World History Module that can be

developed; (4) The level of acceptability of the developed Activity- based World History

Module in terms of applicability, comprehensibility, attractiveness and self-involvement.

This study utilized descriptive-evaluative method of research. This involved fifteen

(15) World History teachers who were purposively chosen in identifying the least effective

and not effective activities in the existing World History Module and assessing the level of

acceptability of the Supplemental Activity- based World History Module. To draw

meaningful results, the researcher used the standard statistical tool such as weighted

arithmetic mean and percentage formula.

Based on the gathered data, the following findings and conclusions were derived:

One hundred ten (110) activities were subject for revision based on the evaluation of fifteen

(15) World History teachers. Five (5) activities were considered not constructive, ninety-

seven (97) activities as not interactive, another five (5) activities as not reflective, and three

(3) activities does not cater to multiple intelligences.

The developed Supplemental Activity-based World History Module is highly

acceptable after obtaining the grand WAM of 3.83. The following indicators obtained the

following average WAM: acceptability with 3.94, comprehensibility with 3.75,

attractiveness with 3.92, and self-involvement with 3.71. All indicators obtained a verbal

description of highly acceptable.

Based on the findings, the following recommendations were significantly drawn:

For the Araling Panlipunan teachers, the utilization of the developed module is

recommended to enhance their instructional delivery through the varied learning activities.

Similarly, for the students, they are recommended to show cooperation during the delivery

of the instructions through the utilization of the developed module in World History.

Moreover, for the school administrators, they are recommended to consider the utilization

of the developed World History Module and continuously support the teachers in the

delivery of quality instruction through relevant trainings to the utilization of the module.
