Abstract
The increase in technology provides good opportunities to the seller to reach the customer in much
faster, easier and in economic way. Online shopping is emerging very fast in recent years. Now a
day the internet holds the attention of retail market. Millions and millions of people shop online.
On the other hand, the purchasing of product from traditional market is continuing since years.
Many customers go for purchasing offline so as to examine the product and hold the possession of
the product just after the payment for the product. In this contemporary world customer’s loyalty
depends upon the consistent ability to deliver quality, value and satisfaction. Some go for offline
shopping, some for online and many go for both kind of shopping. The focus of the study is on the
consumer’s choice to shop on internet and at the traditional stores at the information gaining
period. However online shopping is easier for the people and less price than the offline shopping.
While making any purchase decision consumer should know the medium to purchase whether
online shopping or the offline shopping. Consumer should decide the channel for them which can
best suit to their need and wants and which can satisfy them. In this competitive world how
consumer can decide the particular medium for their purchase of goods is very important to
understand in a managerial point of view.

1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Objective:

The present study broadly compares the online and offline shopping, specifically the objectives are:
a) To analyze the significant difference between the online and offline consumer groups in
terms of demographic, technology use, availability and attitude of the consumer.

b) To examine the factors influencing the consumer to switch from the offline shopping to
online shopping and online to offline shopping.

c) The factor influencing the consumer to shop solely online and solely offline.

d) To analyze whether the qualification of the consumer affect the online shopping and offline
purchasing.

1.2 Scope:

This project aims at the creation of a comprehensive portal, which can be used by everyone for
shopping purpose. The portal should be as simple as possible so that it can be configured even by
an illiterate person.
1.3 Existing System:

The current system for shopping is to visit the shop manually and from the available product
choose the item customer want and buying the item by payment of the price of the item.
1. It is less user-friendly.
2. User must go to shop and select products.
3. It is difficult to identify the required product.
4. Description of the product limited.
5. It is a time consuming process.
6. Not in reach of distant users.
1.4 Proposed System:

In order to overcome these, we have e-commerce solution, i.e. one place where we can get all
required goods/products online. The proposed system helps in building a website to buy, sell
products or goods online using internet connection. Purchasing of goods online, user can choose

different products based on categories, online payments, delivery services and hence covering the
disadvantages of the existing system and making the buying easier and helping the vendors to
reach wider market.
Advantages of the new system proposed:
 Choose products faster and easier at one place.
 Saves time of travelling to the vendor/seller’s place.
 Good/Trusted & Tension free delivery services. Products bought online will be delivered
to the footsteps of the buyer free of cost (may be varied based on the vendor/seller).
 Alerts and real time reporting through Emails (to both vendor as well as buyer).
 Reports generated can be saved for future references.
 Inventory reports for the vendor/seller on daily, monthly, yearly basis.
1.5 Software Requirements Specification:

A customer visits the online shopping portal. A customer may buy item or just visit the page and
logout. The customer can select a segment, then a category, and brand to get the different products
in the desired brand. The customer can select the product for purchasing. The process can be
repeated for more items. Once the customer finishes selecting the product/s the cart can be viewed,
If the customer wants to edit the final cart it can be done here. For final payment the customer has
to login the portal, if the customer is visiting for the 1st time he must register with the site, else the
customer must use the login page to proceed. Final cart is submitted for payment and card details
and address are being confirmed by the customer. Customer is confirmed with a shipment Id and
delivery of goods within 15 days.
Actors:

Portal:
• Allows the customer to view the different categories and further to different products
within the brands.
• Allows the customer to shop online saying time and cost of customer.
• The portal provides a bill and a shipment Id which can be used to track the delivery status
of the goods purchased by the customer.

Customer:
• Customers when enter the site and view the various products in different category.
• Authentication of the customer is done for the payment of the shopping done
• Customer can browse through the products available in the shop, can select some of them
and put into the shopping cart.
• Customer can anytime change the items in the cart either by adding new items or by
removing existing items. Customer proceeds towards the payment counter. Finalize
product list of items he finally wishes to buy and make the final payment.

Administrator:
• Updates the details of the different category, segments etc.
• Verifies the customer card details and records the details for shipment of goods.

2.FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS
It is very significant to do feasibility study before starting a project. Now 21st century people
would love shopping online. Especially clouts items are very chap in online and customer wanted
make sure the products colour, size and items are accurate for them. When I making this e-
commerce web site I have to make sure that visitor or buyer are able to see everything perfectly
before purchase the products.

2.1 Aim of this portal:


The main purpose of this e-commerce web site to creating user friendly website for customer and
easy to buy products like they are buy form own shop. A feasibility study help project manager
find out positive and negatives result of the project before investing time and money.
In preliminary investigation feasibility study has three aspects.
Technical Feasibility
Operational Feasibility
Economical Feasibility

2.2 Technical Feasibility:


Technical issues involved are the necessary technology existence, technical guarantees of
accuracy, reliability, ease of access, data security, aspects of future expansion.
i. Technology exists to develop a system.
ii. The proposed system is capable of holding data to be used.
iii. The proposed system is capable of providing adequate response and regardless of the
number of users.
iv. The proposed system being modular to the administrator, if he/she want scan add more
features in the future and as well as be able to expand the system.
v. As far as the hardware and software is concerned, the proposed system is completely liable
with proper backup and security. Hence, we can say that the proposed system is technically
feasible.

2.3 Operational Feasibility:
If the system meets the requirements of the customers and the administrator, we can say that the
system is operationally feasible. The proposed system will be beneficial only if it can be turned
into a system which will meet the requirements of the store when it is developed and installed, and
there is sufficient support from the users.
i. The proposed system will improve the total performance.
ii. Customers here are the most important part of the system and the proposed system will
provide them with a convenient mode of operation for them.
iii. The proposed system will be available to the customers throughout the globe.
iv. The proposed system will provide a better market for different dealers. Hence, the proposed
system is operationally feasible.

2.4 Economical Feasibility:


Economic Feasibility is the most frequently used method for evaluating the effectiveness of the
proposed system if the benefits of the proposed system outweighs the cost then the decision is
made to design and implement the system.
i. The cost of hardware and software is affordable.
ii. High increase in the amount of profit earned by going global.
iii. Easy and cheap maintenance of the system possible.
iv. Very cheap price for going global. Hence, the proposed system is economically feasible.

4. PROJECT PROPOSAL
4.1 SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Summary:
The growing use of Internet in India provides a developing prospect for online shopping. If E-
marketers know the factors affecting online Indian behavior, and the relationships between these
factors and the type of online buyers, then they can further develop their marketing strategies to
convert potential customers into active ones, while retaining existing online customers. This
project is a part of study, and focuses on factors which online Indian buyers keep in mind while
shopping online. This research found that information, perceived usefulness, ease of use; perceived
enjoyment and security/privacy are the five dominant factors which influence consumer
perceptions of Online purchasing.

Background:
Zoom Consulting is currently accepting proposals to develop, design, launch, and host a new
corporate web site. The existing Zoom Consulting web site was developed and launched in 2008.
In an effort to achieve more “wins” from clients via the corporate web site, Zoom Consulting has
determined that a new platform is needed which is more user-friendly and allows for improved
interaction among potential clients. The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit
proposals from various candidate organizations, conduct a fair and extensive evaluation based on
criteria listed herein, and select the candidate who best represents the direction Ace Consulting
wishes to go.
Our services include:

Proposal Guidelines:
To get a coarse structure of the implementation process for the Online Shop, it can be split into
four major steps:
A. The first step is the strategic decision to implement an Online Shop in the company. The
decision should be supported by global goals to which the shop is directed, e.g. to create a
new marketing channel or simply to gain an advantage over the competitors.
B. The development of a concept for the Online Shop is the second and often the most
extensive step. Business and technical issues, e.g. the structure of the offer made by the
company, the technical architecture for the data exchange between the online shop and the
ERP system or the software to use, have to be clarified. The concept development step will
be elaborated in detail later.

C. In the third step realization, the Online Shop is instantiated by configuration and
customization of electronic commerce standard software and/or by programming and web
design. Other important parts in this step are testing and marketing of the online shop.
D. The final step is the operation of the online shop, which often is outsourced today. An
important success factor for the Online Shop is the actuality of the information provided
and prompt responses to customer questions and orders.

Project purpose:
Zoom Consulting believes that by using current web-based technologies and a more effective site
design, we can provide our clients and potential clients with more information, a more user-
friendly environment, and achieve more wins from prospective clients.

Project description:
Zoom Consulting is seeking a provider to utilize the latest web-based technology to create a web
site that is user friendly, simple to use, provides detailed information about our services and
offerings, and is easy to add or modify content. The site design should incorporate the latest key
word search practices and maximize “search ability” in all current internet search engines.
The finished web site must allow Zoom Consulting’s IT group to easily manipulate the layout and
content in order to allow for frequent changes in the dynamic environment in which we work where
things constantly change.
The web site design and layout should be aesthetically pleasing, simple for users to navigate,
provide descriptions of all Zoom Consulting services, management biographies, and contact
information. The site must also be completely secure against intrusion. The site should also allow
users to submit their contact information in order to be added to our list of potential clients to
receive regular updates and new developments.

Project Scope:
This system can be implemented to any shop in the locality or to multinational branded shops
having retail outlet chains. The system recommends a facility to accept the orders 24*7 and a home
delivery system which can make customers happy. If shops are providing an online portal where
their customers can enjoy easy shopping from anywhere, the shops won’t be losing any more
customers to the trending online shops such as flip kart or eBay. Since the application is available
in the Smartphone it is easily accessible and always available.

Request for Proposal Timeline:


All proposals in response to this RFP are due no later than 4pm EST March 30, 2018.
Evaluation of proposals will be conducted from March 1, 2018 until March 15,2018.
If additional information or discussions are needed with any bidders during this two-week window,
the bidder(s) will be notified.
The selection decision for the winning bidder will be made no later than March 16, 2018.

Upon notification, the contract negotiation with the winning bidder will begin immediately.
Contract negotiations will be completed by March 30, 2018.
Notifications to bidders who were not selected will be completed by March 20, 2018.

Project Timeline:
Project initiation phase must be completed by March 31, 2018.Project planning phase must be
completed by May 15, 2018. Project planning phase will determine the timeline/schedule for the
remaining phases of the project.

4.2 BIDDER QUALIFICATIONS:


Bid proposal preparation and submission:
Bid proposals shall not contain URLs (Uniform Resource Locators, i.e., the global address of
documents and other resources on the world wide web) or web addresses. In as much as the web
contains dynamically changing content, inclusion of a URL or web address in a bid response is
indicative of potentially changing information. Inclusion of a URL or web address in a bid response
implies that the bid proposal's content changes as the referenced web pages’ change.

Bid proposal delivery and identification:


In order to be considered, a bid proposal must arrive at Procurement Services in accordance with
the instructions on the RFP’s Signature Page. Bidders are cautioned to allow adequate delivery
time to ensure timely delivery of bid proposals. Late bid proposals are ineligible for
consideration.

RFP signature page:


The bidder shall complete and submit the RFP Signature Page. The RFP Signature Page shall be
signed by an authorized representative of the bidder. If the bidder is a limited partnership, the RFP
Signature Page must be signed by a general partner. If the bidder is a joint venture, the RFP
Signature Page must be signed by a principal of each party to the joint venture. Failure to comply
will result in rejection of the bid proposal.

Ownership disclosure certification:


In the event the bidder is a corporation, partnership or sole proprietorship, the bidder must
complete the attached Ownership Disclosure Certification. A current completed Ownership
Disclosure Certification must be received prior to or accompany the bid proposal. If the bidder is
a joint venture, an Ownership Disclosure Certification must be completed and submitted by each
party to the joint venture. Failure to comply will result in rejection of the bid proposal.

Source disclosure certification:


The bidder must complete the Source Disclosure Certification and include the completed
Certification with the bid proposal. Failure to comply will result in rejection of the bid proposal.

Company qualification certification:
The bidder must complete the Company Qualification Certification and include the completed
Certification with the bid proposal. If the bidder is a joint venture, the Company Qualification
Certification must be completed and submitted by each party to the joint venture. Failure to comply
will result in rejection of the bid proposal.

The following criteria will be used to evaluate all bid proposals that meet the requirements of this
RFP.

Experience of the bidder
The bidder's past performance under similar contracts.
Ability to develop/ provide a user friendly site for the on-line store.
Quality of the merchandise for sale. Ability to provide requested items- samples.
Workmanship and quality of logo placements and clarity.
Ability of the store provider to process all orders, collect payments and ship merchandise
within the established time frame.
Responsiveness of the store provider to requests for process special order items and ability to
customize each store.
Meet the requirements for minimum orders.
Experience and success on similar projects.
References and client lists.

5.3 RMMM (Risk Mitigation, Monitoring and Management)
Risk 1: Computer Crash
The cost associated with a computer crash resulting in a loss of data is crucial. A computer crash
itself is not crucial, but rather the loss of data. A loss of data will result in not being able to deliver
the product to the customer. This will result in a not receiving a letter of acceptance from the
customer. Without the letter of acceptance, the group will receive a failing grade for the course.
As a result, the organization is taking steps to make multiple backup copies of the software in
development and all documentation associated with it, in multiple locations.
Risk 2: Hacker Attack
Website hacking is a result from the adoption of web-based technologies for conducting e-
business. Whereas web applications allow organizations to connect seamlessly with suppliers and
customers, web application vulnerabilities have also exposed a multitude of previously unknown
security risks that may open the door to a hacker attack. Hackers attack these vulnerable websites
for a number of reasons which can go from stealing sensitive information to SEO purposes.
Risk 3: Staff Experienced
The retail sector is the largest private employer in the United States, directly and indirectly
supporting 42 million jobs. As e-commerce grows, retail companies will need to recruit a more
technical workforce. Having highly skilled employees is of the utmost importance in a field where
technological innovation to improve customer experience and provide relevant goods and services
is vital to gaining a competitive edge and increasing market share.
Risk 4: Unavailability of Admin
Online customers must have access to the Internet and a valid method of payment in order to
complete a transaction. Generally, higher levels of education and personal income correspond to
more favorable perceptions of shopping online. Increased exposure to technology also increases
the probability of developing favorable attitudes towards new shopping channels.
Risk 5: Review may not be conducted regularly
Consumers find a product of interest by visiting the website of the retailer directly or by searching
among alternative vendors using a shopping search engine. Once a particular product has been
found on the website of the seller, most online retailers use shopping cart software to allow the
consumer to accumulate multiple items and to adjust quantities, like filling a physical shopping
cart or basket in a conventional store. needs to be entered once. The consumer often receives an e-
mail confirmation once the transaction is complete.
Risk 6: Database stability
Since you have no idea of product's quality until you hold it in your hands, returning things bought
online is quite common. Unless you're buying from one of the established e-commerce companies,
it's important to go through the return policy while making a purchase. But most sites have vague
return policies that can leave you with a low-quality product and no way to return it.
Risk 7: Delivery deadline will be tightened
Once a payment has been accepted, the goods or services can be delivered in the following ways.

meant to run on android OS, which is now changed to all the platforms.

8. CONCLUSION
The young generation are more often purchasing from online sites because of the revolution in the
technology among the youth population and they are able to use this technology for their well-
being more than other age group category. Flipkart is the shopping site which is more preferable
by the youngster. There are increasing demand of online shopping because the variety of options
for the consumers to choose and that to at a reasonable price and sometime even less price than
the market. Electronic items were less demanded from the e-shopping but clothes are much more
demanded by the consumers. There are several products which are not delivered by the shopping
sites in the preferable area, it is seen that with the advancement of the technology the preference
of the online shopping increases. Earlier people more uses the traditional shopping. Now also
people who are not aware of the several shopping sites and not that technically advanced are less
into internet for shopping.
This study advanced an ideal that uses consumer value perceptions to increase our thoughtful of
channel choice. Earlier work verified the key effect of perceived value has on purchase intentions,
but merely concentrated on product or store value insights. This paper extends the studies while
asking the questions from the consumer who are into online shopping as well as traditional
shopping to rate both the channels in the terms of performance, products, time of delivery, quality
and other related aspects of online and offline shopping. By accepting this approach, investigators
and experts can gain valuable insights into the motivations to adopt a definite channel for shopping.
A cluster of all customer communication with products, services or persons that is specific.
Another concern was that the conceptual model, a theoretical context for the study of the
theoretical basis of all the research on it is placed. Customer behavior is a process of discussions
with investors to buy consumer goods and consumer behavior suggestions of the process.
These are the 4 factor of consumer participation is defined as:
1. Person’s Features,
2. Standard of living,
3. Basic needs and
4. Status that directly inspire the needs.

The system has been developed with much care and free of errors and at the same time it is
efficient and less time consuming. The purpose of this project was to develop a web application
and an android application for purchasing items from a shop.
This project helped us in gaining valuable information and practical knowledge on several topics
like designing web pages using html & CSS, usage of responsive templates, designing of android
applications, and management of database using MySQL. The entire system is secured. Also the
project helped us understanding about the development phases of a project and software
development life cycle. We learned how to test different features of a project.
This project has given us great satisfaction in having designed an application which can be
implemented to any nearby shops or branded shops selling various kinds of products by simple
modifications.

9. FUTURE SCOPE
There is a scope for further development in our project to a great extent. A number of features can
be added to this system in future like providing moderator more control over products so that each
moderator can maintain their own products. Another feature we wished to implement was
providing classes for customers so that different offers can be given to each class. System may
keep track of history of purchases of each customer and provide suggestions based on their history.
These features could have implemented unless the time did not limited us.

The current level of empirical research done on retail in the Indian context is miniscule. This study
is concentrated on perceptions and evaluations of food & grocery stores and seeks to build on the
very little research done in retailing in general, and data mining in retailing in particular. In the
future, researchers can seek other relevant research problems from the industry and from existing
literature.

In terms of managerial and technical approach, researchers can research certain niche customer
segments such as the elderly, only students, only male professionals etc. Additional sectors, such
as apparel retailing, fashion products, consumer electronics, luxury brands, mobile retailing etc.
can be researched. Emerging formats such as airport retailing, online-retailing, vending machines,
membership clubs, multi-level marketing etc. are also very under-researched areas. Even within
grocery retailing, specific formats such as supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores and
traditional open markets etc. are very relevant areas of research for future.
