2:1 Ellipsoidal Heads & Hemi-Heads are the commonly used heads in a vessel.

The height of the ellipsoidal head is D/4, where D can be the inner or the
outer diameter of the vessel. For our calculation, we have assumed, outer. As
for the hemi-head, the height of the dish-end is D/2

These heights are fixed and not designer dependant.
