VISA INSTRUCTIONS
1. TYPES OF VISAS
Transit Visa : For a visit to Thailand on a transit to other countries. Applicant’s passport should already be affixed with
visa of country of destination after Thailand.
Tourist Visa: For a visit to Thailand for vacation or pleasure.
Non-immigrant Visa : For a visit to Thailand on business or other purposes.
Official Visa, Diplomatic Visa : For a visit to Thailand on official or diplomatic function.
The applicant should present an official or diplomatic passport together with official letter from the Government or authority
concerned of the country that issued the passport.

2. TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATION


Place : Visa Section, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Mumbai.
Time : 9.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
Monday-Friday except on Thai and Indian Holidays.
Documents : -One application form for visa to Thailand duly filled clearly in English Capital Letters and signed by
applicant
-Two up-to-date photographs of passports size and characteristic.
-Passport validity of not less than six months having at least two blank pages.
-Other documents which may be requested by Consulate-General, such as copy of confirmed air ticket,
confirmed accommodation and Proof of financial support. (endorsement or credit card copy).
Visa Fee : For one entry/one person
Transit Visa : Rs. 1100
Tourist Visa : Rs. 1400
Non- Immigrant Visa (single Entry) : Rs. 2800
Non-Immigrant Visa (Multiple Entry for one year) : Rs. 7000
Note : All fees to be paid by Demand Draft, Favoring “ROYAL THAI CONSULATE-GENERAL MUMBAI”
issued by any Nationalized / International bank. Submit a single demand draft if more than 1 application.

3. FINANCIAL SUPPORT
An alien entering Thailand must have in his/her possession cash or travellers cheques in convertible currency at least to
the following amounts per one entry:
Transit Visa Holders
Single : Baht 5,000(US$ 250)
Family : Baht 10,000(US$ 500)
Tourist & Non-Immigrant Visa Holders
Single : Baht 10,000(US$ 500)
Family : Baht 20,000(US$ 1,000)
Failure to produce the above-mentioned may lead to the refusal of the entry into Thailand.

4. TO COLLECT THE PASSPORT


Passport affixed with a visa to Thailand could be collected by the applicant on the next working day from the date of
submission, between 14.00 hrs. to 16.30 hrs. at the visa section
As all application for a visa to Thailand are already treated as urgent (one working day basis), therefore kindly not ask for
more urgent treatment.

NOTICE : a) All applicants are requested to properly check all the information in passport and make sure all is
correct. Once returned, the Royal Thai Consulate General, Mumbai will not take any responsibility on the passports.
b) Visa fees once paid is not refundable in any case. c) Validity of the Visa is 90 days from the sate of issue.

FACTS ABOUT THAILAND

GEOGRAPHY : Thailand has land area of 513 – 115 sq.km. bordered by Malaysia (South), Myanmar (West & North)
: Laos (North & East) and Cambodia (Southeast). Bangkok is the capital city.
CLIMATE : Temperature varies from 38◦ C to 19◦ C ; humidity from 82.8% to 66%
SEASONS : Hot (March to May), Rainy (June to October), Cool (November to February).
POPULATION : About 61 Million (1999 census): of the total, 84.7% live in rural areas, 9.6% in Bangkok and 5.7 in
other towns and cities.
LANGUAGE : Thai is the national language. English is widely understood in cities.
RELIGION : Buddhists- 95%, Muslims- 3.9%, Christians- 0.5%, others 0.6%
GOVERNMENT : A constitutional monarchy headed by King Bhumibol Adulyadej, with 76 provinces, each sub-divided
into amphoe, tambon and muban.
NATIONAL FLAG : The red, white, and blue bands symbolize the nation, Buddhism and the monarchy respectively.
CLOTHING : Thin cotton are the best. A jacket or sweater may be necessary in the cool season, especially in a
mountainous area in the North or Northeast.
ELECTRICITY : 220 volts 50 cycles throughout the country.
