I choose Monthly Manufacturing Statistics in Malaysia on December between years

2016 to 2017 to be made into infographic for my Business Statistics assignment because I
can relate it to my course, Bachelor of Technology Management (Technology Innovation)
or BTMI for short.

Manufacturing is the production of merchandise for use or sale using labor and
machines, tools, chemical and biological processing, or formulation. The term may refer
to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high tech, but is most commonly applied
to industrial production, in which raw materials are transformed into finished goods on a
large scale. Such finished goods may be sold to other manufacturers for the production of
other, more complex products, such as aircraft, household appliances, furniture, sports
equipment or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who
then sell them to end users and consumers.

But from the view of management and human resources department, 4 important
aspects recorded each month and compared year on year the same month (example:
December 2016-2017) are Sales Values, Number of Employee, Salaries and Wages and
lastly, Sales Value Per Employee or Productivity.

The 7 sub-sectors of manufacturing relates to Technopreneurship course, while the 4

important aspects relates to Human Resources Management and Technology course that I
still learning from my Semester 2 course, Year 1, 2018.

 Manufacturing sector registered a sales value of RM 67.3 billion in December 2017,
recording a strong growth of 9.4% as compared to RM 61.5 billion reported a year ago.

Year-on-year, the significant increase in sales value in December 2017 was due to the
increase in Electrical and Electronic Products (9.3%), Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and
Plastic Products (12.5%) and Non-metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal and Fabricated
Metal Products (6.8%). These 3 sub-sectors contributed 80.5% to the sales value of the
manufacturing sector.

While the other 4 sub-sectors that contributed to the remaining 19.5% to the sales value
of the manufacturing sector too reported an increase. The production and manufacturing of
Food, Beverage and Tobacco sector increase by 6.9%, Textile, Wearing Apparel, Leather
and Footwear sector increase by 7.2%, Wood, Furniture, Paper Products and Printing sector
increase by 5.7% and lastly, Transport Equipment and Other Manufactures sector increase
by 4.8%.

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in December 2017 was

1,057,591 persons, an increase of 2.4% or 24,694 persons as compared to 1,032,897
persons in December 2016.

Salaries & wages paid rose 9.2% (RM 319.5 million) to record RM 3,774.0 million,
thus registering an average salaries & wages per employee of RM 3,568 in December 2017.

Sales value per employee gain 6.8% to record RM 63,597 as compared with the same
month of the previous year.
