Terms and Conditions of Entry into ​The Examiner Junior

Sports Awards​ 2018 Competition

To enter a Promotion or Competition with ​The Examiner or The Advocate ​you must accept our Conditions of Use
(​www.fairfax.com.au/conditions.html​) and Privacy Policy (​http://www.fairfax.com.au/privacy.html​)

1. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winner..
2. Promotional period: ​from the Start Date until the End Date
Start date: ​Wednesday April 18th 2018 at 9.00am AEDT
End date: ​Sunday September 30th 2018 at 11:59 pm AEST
3. Entry is open to Northern Tasmanian residents between the ages of 12 - 18 years only, on or before end
of nomination period on September 30 2018, and excluding employees of ​The Advocate & The
Examiner​, the competition / event employees and their immediate family.
4. Each entry will be individually judged based on achievements of nominated athletes from October 1
2017 - September 30 2018.
5. Submissions must meet conditions of nominated category to validate nomination:
a. Female Junior Sportsperson of the Year
Must be female
Must be between 15 and 18 years of age
Must reside in Northern Tasmania
Please include a photo of the junior sports star
b. Male Junior Sportsperson of the Year
Must be male
Must be between 15 and 18 years of age
Must reside in Northern Tasmania
Please include a photo of the junior sports star
c. Rising Junior Star of the Year - Female
Must be female
Must be between 12 and 14 years of age
Must reside in Northern Tasmania
Please include a photo of the junior sports star
d. Rising Junior Star of the Year - Male
Must be male
Must be between 12 and 14 years of age
Must reside in Northern Tasmania
Please include a photo of the junior sports star
e. Ricky Ponting Service to Sport Shield
Must voluntarily participate in junior sport, be it a coach, administration, kiosk or club official,
we want to recognise those people who dedicate their time to your club or sport
Must be involved with junior sport in Northern Tasmania
Please include a photo of your nominated local junior sports hero
f. Team of the Year
Team must be based in Northern Tasmania
Team must consist of athletes between the ages of 12 and 18 years
Team must have had success at either a local, state, national or international level during the
2018 year
Please include a photo of the junior sports team
g. Phil Edwards Bursary
Entrants to submit 500 word essay highlighting ‘What their involvement in sport means to them’
Entry open to athletes male and female between the ages of 12-18
Entrant must reside in Northern Tasmania
Entry must include a photo of entrant
6. The Promoter reserves the right to request proof of eligibility. In the event that an entrant cannot provide
satisfactory proof, the Promoter may, in its absolute discretion, disqualify the entrant.
7. Should an entrant’s contact details change during the promotional period, it is the entrant's
responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in
an entry should be directed to Promoter.
8. The judging and selection of the winner(s) will be conducted by judges selected at the
discretion of the Promoter​ during the week commencing 01​/10/2018 at ​The Examiner, 113
Cimitiere Street, Launceston 7250​.
9. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held no later than four weeks after
judging is finalised.
10. The winner agrees to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable media editorial
requests relating to the prize, including but not limited to, being interviewed and photographed.
11. The Promoter is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected entries, or interrupted communications,
unavailable network servers or other connections, failed telephone, mid-delivery or computer
transmissions or other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical or electronic. The Promoter
assumes no responsibility for any error, defect, delay, theft or unauthorised access to or alteration of
entries.
12. If this competition is not capable of running or being completed as planned for any reason, including
because of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, technical failures or
any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole
discretion to cancel, terminate, recommence, modify or suspend the competition.
13. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter excludes all liability (including
negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether
direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way in connection with the competition.
14. The Promoter may amend these terms and conditions from time to time at its discretion.
15. Permit number is not required for this promotion in Tasmania
