Solar Shop Australia harnesses the power of good with national expansion

Australia’s leading provider of grid connect solar power, Solar Shop Australia, has launched
a new brand identity and advertising campaign as part of its bold national expansion plans.

The new branding and positioning, centred around ‘the power of good’ was developed in
conjunction with Clemenger BBDO in Adelaide, and forms part of a broader business
strategy that will see the organisation significantly grow its national footprint over the next
two years.

In just two weeks, Solar Shop Australia opened five new retail concept stores in
Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia, with a further three planned
to open by the end of the year, taking the total number to 10 nationally.

Solar Shop Australia Chief Executive Officer, Tony Thornton, said the power of good
demonstrated the organisation’s shift in thinking around the perceptions of grid-connect
solar power.

“Today, it goes without saying that solar power is good for the environment. As a result, the
green benefits of solar energy are no longer unique or effective selling points,” Mr Thornton
said.

“People are becoming more focussed on the long-term financial benefits of investing in grid-
connect solar power and, most notably, how power from the sun can free them from rising
electricity costs and in many cases, earn them money from state based feed-in-tariffs.

“We want people to feel good by taking control of their household electricity bills, while still
having a positive impact on the environment.”

Mr Thornton said the new direction reflected the maturation of Solar Shop Australia as an
industry-leading organisation.

“In just 10 years, Solar Shop has grown from being a small South Australian owned and
operated organisation with six employees to the nation’s number one provider of grid-
connect solar panels, with a growing employee base and a truly national presence,” Mr
Thornton said.

“Our extensive research has identified the markets that we want to expand into, and as a
business we’re committed to meeting the growing demand among Australian households
for quality solar power solutions and providing the service to match with an overhaul of how
we connect with customers.

“The response to our new retail stores has been overwhelming. We listened to customers
and what they were looking for, in what has become a very crowded and confusing market.
We are the only solar company to offer a full service, multiple panel options, solar finance
with $0 deposit and custom design and it’s delivering real benefit to our customers.

“They are exciting and dynamic times for the industry with new players entering the market
constantly and the legislation on incentives and rebates a moving target. Ultimately, we
want to lead the charge in helping one in 10 Australian homes to be powered by solar by
2020,” he said.

In the past four years alone, Solar Shop Australia has installed in excess of 500,000 solar
panels on residential and commercial premises throughout Australia, producing
approximately (number) kilowatts of energy, which is the equivalent of XXX.
